Being malicious turns into hatred. Having become hatred, the karma arising from hatred, the body performs three kinds, the speech performs four kinds, and the mind performs three kinds. The karma that has been performed is exhausted, ceased, separated, and transformed from the very beginning. It does not exist relying on the east, not here, not there, and not in the intermediate state. At other times, when the time and opportunity of death are near, the life force ceases, life is completely exhausted, and the karmas associated with it are also exhausted. When the last consciousness ceases, it is like waking up from sleep, being carried away by a great flood, and being displeased in the mind, the consciousness will notice. Great King, by the power of the last consciousness, and the karma that is noticed, and the two causes, the first consciousness belonging to birth arises. As soon as that first consciousness ceases, without interruption, the same part of the mind stream that will experience maturation arises. Great King, in this way, karma is also noticed, but there is no author. Maturation is also noticed, but there is no feeler other than the designation of a name. Great King, the cessation of the last consciousness is counted as death. The arising of the first consciousness is known as birth. Great King, in this way, no dharma is transferred from this world to another world, but the manifestation of death and birth exists. Great King, the last consciousness does not come from anywhere when it is born between the last consciousness and the first consciousness, nor does it go anywhere when it ceases. Why is that? Because its nature is emptiness. The last consciousness is empty, emptiness is the nature of the last consciousness. Samsara is empty, emptiness is the nature of samsara. Nirvana is also empty, emptiness is the nature of nirvana. All dharmas are also empty of the nature of all dharmas. This is the gate of liberation, emptiness. This which is empty of the sign of emptiness is the gate of liberation.

Signless! To that which is signless, there is no aspiration; this is the gate of liberation, without aspiration. Great King, thus all dharmas are the gate of liberation, truly converging in emptiness, the nature of signlessness, devoid of aspiration, inclined towards nirvana, determined in the realm of dharma, bounded by the realm of space. Great King, for example, a person in a sleeping dream is intoxicated with wine and becomes extremely deluded, so that at that time and place, he does not know what is virtuous, nor does he know what is non-virtuous, nor does he know what is sinful, nor does he know what is sinless, nor does he know what is beneficial, nor does he know what is harmful, nor does he know merits and faults in any way, and falls asleep. When that person wakes up from sleep and remembers the delusion of being drunk with wine, Great King, what do you think? Does the intoxication and delusion seen in the dream exist? Answer: Blessed One, it exists. The Buddha said: Great King, what do you think? Then, is attachment to the intoxication of wine in a dream the nature of a wise person? Answer: Blessed One, it is not. Why is that? Blessed One, the wine seen in the dream does not exist at all, and if there is attachment, how can delusion exist? Otherwise, the person who is attached to it will become a person of poverty and fatigue. The Blessed One said: Great King, likewise, ignorant ordinary people who do not possess learning, if they discern dharmas with their minds, they will also become attached to those who tend towards equanimity, and after being attached, they will become very foolish. After becoming very foolish, the body born of delusion commits three (evil deeds), speech commits four (evil deeds), and mind commits three (evil deeds). Attachment to karma is exhausted, ceased, separated, and transformed from the very beginning. From not relying on the east to existing, to between "not here, not there, not in the bardo." At other times, when the time and limit of death are near, the life force ceases, and life is completely exhausted, and the karmas similar to this fate are also
