Then, the person who is attached to that will become a poor and exhausted person of destiny. The Blessed One said: Great King, similarly, each wise child, if he distinguishes the dharmas with his mind, will become strongly attached to those things that make the mind happy. Because of this strong attachment, they will then develop craving. After craving arises, they will become completely attached. After becoming completely attached, the karma arising from desire will be that the body will perform three kinds, speech will perform four kinds, and the mind will perform three kinds. The karma that is performed also exhausts, ceases, separates, and changes from the very beginning. It does not depend on the east, it is not here, it is not there, it is not in the intermediate state, at other times, when the time and moment of death are near, the life force ceases, life is also completely exhausted, and those similar karmas of destiny are also exhausted, when the last consciousness ceases, it is like a sleeper waking up, the five qualities of desire will be perceived by the mind as if they were the illusion of a magician. Great King, for the power of the last consciousness, and the karma that is perceived, and the first consciousness belonging to birth born of two conditions, either in the hells of sentient beings, or in the animal realm, or in the world of Yama, or in the realm of Asuras, or in humans, or in the heavens. As soon as the first consciousness ceases, immediately and without interruption, the continuous mind of similar destiny that can experience the ripening result will arise. Great King, in this way, karma is also perceived, and the ripening result is also perceived, and there is no experiencer other than the mere imputation of a name. Great King, in this way, the cessation of the last consciousness is called the number of death. The arising of the first consciousness is called the number of birth. Great King, in this way, no dharma is transferred from this world to another world, but death and birth are evident. Great King, from the last consciousness to consciousness

At the time of arising in the beginning, it does not come from anywhere; at the time of ceasing, it does not go anywhere either. Why is that? Because its essence is emptiness. The last consciousness, from emptiness with the last consciousness, to between samsara, is empty by the nature of samsara. Nirvana is also empty by the nature of nirvana. All dharmas are also empty by the nature of all dharmas. Great King, thus all dharmas are emptiness, this is the gate of liberation, emptiness. That which is empty by the characteristic of emptiness is without characteristics. That which is without characteristics has no aspirations, this is without aspirations. Great King, thus all dharmas are the gate of liberation, truly gathering in emptiness, the essence of no characteristics, free from aspirations, inclined towards nirvana, abiding in the realm of dharma, reaching the limit of the sphere of space. Great King, for example, a person dreams while sleeping that he and his servants and retinue are carried away by a great river, and in that, he dreams of experiencing various kinds of suffering and unpleasantness arising from the mind. If that person wakes up from sleep and remembers that, Great King, what do you think? Does the great river in the dream exist? He replied: Blessed One, it does not exist. The Buddha said: Great King, what do you think? If someone in a dream is carried away by a great river and sees suffering and unpleasantness, and clings to it, is that person of the nature of wisdom? He replied: Blessed One, no. Why is that? Blessed One, the great river that carries that person away in the dream itself does not actually exist and cannot be seen, so how can his suffering and unpleasantness exist? Otherwise, that person who clings to it will become a person of poverty and weariness. The Blessed One said: Great King, similarly, ordinary people who have not heard, if they discern dharmas with their minds, they will also cling to those things that will become unpleasant, and after clinging they will become angry, and after becoming angry they will become harmful.
