Having practiced peace in the monastery, the teacher, the fearless one (Buddha), was pleased there. The king said: Formerly, when the prince was still living at home, his limbs were anointed with fragrant spices and ghee, and he was bathed with a bath befitting a king. Now, at the edge of the forest, who will bathe Shakyamuni? Kalodayin said: Pure discipline is the flowing steps, the Dharma water is the pool. Shakyamuni bathes with it, and also bathes others. His body is not wet, yet he can help beings, including his son, to cross the cycle of rebirth. He himself can also cross over and save most people. The king said: Decorated with gold threads and garlands of jewels, wearing magnificent clothes befitting a king, and exquisitely drawing patterns on leaves with fragrant sandalwood. In the vast forest, who will adorn Shakyamuni? Kalodayin said: Anointed with the fragrance of discipline, adorned with garlands of merit, with shame as clothing, and meditation as adornment. A body adorned with supernatural powers, wisdom, and liberation, possessing the radiance of liberation, Shakyamuni appears majestic in the forest. The king said: Holding double-pointed spears and swords, warriors protect their bodies on the battlefield, and canopies and parasols always pleasantly cover them. Living alone in the forest, who will protect him? Kalodayin said: With the power of loving-kindness, Shakyamuni is completely protected. His army is wisdom, and the Shravakas are his attendants. Because he is certain of accumulating merit, he has no fear. Possessing the ten powers, he is delighted and has attained fearlessness. The king said: You have spoken of the merits of my son, he acts righteously and has received tireless praise. You should also go for alms, receive offerings and respect. Similarly, when the Blessed One dwells within the assembly of ascetics, he is exceedingly bright, radiant, and dazzling. For example, when the lord of the gods, Indra, resides in the presence of the gods in the Sudharma Hall, he is bright, radiant, and dazzling. Similarly, when the Blessed One dwells within the assembly of ascetics, he is exceedingly bright, radiant, and dazzling. And what need is there to mention that immediately after being born, all the gods prostrated? And from the time he was born until the time he attained enlightenment, there was never any error, always steadfast in his vows, doing as he said, always persevering in his efforts without interruption.
