Having gone there, he made the venerable Aśvajit very happy, and then the venerable Aśvajit came over. The venerable Aśvajit has come, that's good! The venerable Aśvajit has come after a long time! Venerable Aśvajit, does the Blessed One have no illness? Does he have strength? Does he dwell in comfort? Does he have no discomfort? Does he have no fear at all? Has the Blessed One come in comfort? Is he not very weary? Is he not tired from begging for alms? Having said this, the venerable Aśvajit said this to the sons of the Shakya clan, Free from Sorrow and Devoid of Sorrow: Free from Sorrow and Devoid of Sorrow, the Blessed One has no illness, he has strength, he dwells in comfort, he has no discomfort, he has no fear at all, he has come in comfort, he is not weary, he is not tired from begging for alms. Why is that? Because the Four Great Kings, the Lord of the Gods Indra, and the Lord of the Sahā world Brahmā are striving to make offerings to the Blessed One. Having said this, those sons of the Shakya clan said this to the venerable Aśvajit: Venerable Aśvajit, if we want to see and attend to the Blessed One, we cannot do so. Why is that? Because King Śuddhodana has said: No one is allowed to go to see or attend to my son! If anyone goes to see or attend to him, they will be punished with the amputation of limbs. Therefore, venerable Aśvajit, because we fear the king, we cannot go to see or attend to the Blessed One. Then, the venerable Aśvajit thought to himself: Alas! King Śuddhodana is so overcome by arrogance, how should I go to him? Then he thought this: Or I should use my magical powers to erect seven tala trees high in the sky, and then sit cross-legged in the space above, and go to King Śuddhodana. Then, the venerable Aśvajit entered into such a state of samādhi, and through that samādhi, he erected tala trees in the sky.

Having risen to the height of seven trees, he sat cross-legged in the sky and went to King Śuddhodana in Kapilavastu. King Śuddhodana also saw the long-lived Kālaka from afar, sitting cross-legged in the sky by means of miraculous power, rising to the height of seven trees, and he joined his palms to him and spoke in verses: "From where do you come, you who wear colorful clothes? Quickly tell me what you need. I will quickly give you what you need. It is very difficult to see one who has attained perfection in asceticism." After saying this, the long-lived Kālaka again spoke in verses to King Śuddhodana: "King, I am the son of your son. I need the Dharma, where is the king? I am the messenger of the Tathāgata, sending offerings to the Sugata. O lord of the land, possessing great glory, you have obtained a son, the supreme among men, named Siddhartha. His splendor blazes in all directions, like the midday sun in autumn. Just as the sun in a cloudless sky shines brightly in all directions, so too, O king, your son, like an elephant, illuminates all directions with his wisdom. Just as when the sun of old rises, the light of fireflies is suppressed and appears insignificant, so too, O king, your son, like an elephant, has conquered all other heretics and dwells luminously. Just as the sun suppresses the stars, making them unable to shine brightly during the day, so too, O king, your son, like an elephant, has suppressed the heretics, making them invisible. Just as the moon is suppressed by the sun, losing its light in the expanse of the sky and becoming invisible, so too, your son has suppressed the heretics, making them as dim as the moon suppressed by the sun. Hearing the roar of a lion, the small creatures, bewildered by the force, scatter and dwell trembling in the crevices of the mountains. The roar of a tiger is difficult for others to endure. Similarly, O king, the words of the great ascetic, the roar of selflessness, when heard by other heretics, even if those of little wisdom have reached the peak of existence, all will be terrified upon hearing the sound. To the blind world, including the gods, the one with eyes gives sight. Light
