This body of the five aggregates of grasping, in all actions of walking, standing, sitting, and lying down, there is nothing that is not suffering. If one walks for a long time and cannot rest even for a moment, suffering will arise. Standing, sitting, and lying down, if each lasts for a long time, they will all become suffering. If, after walking for a long time, one can sit down for a moment, it will produce a feeling of happiness, but this is not true happiness. If, after standing for a long time, one can sit down for a moment, and if, after sitting for a long time, one can lie down for a moment, it is not true happiness, therefore, Know that this body of the five aggregates of grasping is all suffering. If someone, for the sake of themselves, others, and the benefit of themselves and others, becomes completely weary of suffering in this way, and goes forth from home to homelessness, diligently studying, they will not regress from the Dharma of Nirvana and liberation. If someone offers them robes, bedding, medicine, and utensils, those people will also gain great power of fruition and fame. The Blessed One said: Ananda, what do you think? Is form permanent? Or is it impermanent? Or is it without suffering? Ananda replied: Blessed One, form is suffering. The Blessed One said: Whatever is impermanent and suffering, is it the nature of destruction? If a noble, well-learned disciple hears such teachings, will they still cling to this body as such a form, and cling to it as self and belonging to self? Blessed One, no. There is no self in form, nor is there anything belonging to self. Furthermore, Ananda, what do you think? Are feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness permanent?

What is it? Indeed, it is impermanent. The Venerable Ananda asked the Blessed One: "Blessed One, all of those are impermanent." The Blessed One said: "If it is impermanent, is it suffering? Or is it without suffering?" Ananda replied: "Like this, these four aggregates are said to be suffering." The Blessed One said: "Whatever is impermanent and suffering, is it subject to destruction? If a noble disciple who is learned and endowed with much learning hears such teachings, will he still cling to this body, these four aggregates, as self or as belonging to self?" Blessed One, it is not so. For these four aggregates, there is truly no 'I' to be called, nor is there 'mine' to be called. Furthermore, Ananda, for this, there is no 'I' to be called, nor is there 'mine' to be called. Furthermore, Ananda, like this, the so-called 'I,' whether in the past, present, or future, internal or external, does not exist, whether coarse or subtle, good or bad, near or far, so all these phenomena are not 'I,' not 'mine.' Therefore, Ananda, like this, with correct wisdom, one should individually examine all phenomena as without self. If a noble disciple who is learned and endowed with much learning, having examined in this way, generates revulsion, he will attain liberation and ultimately attain complete Nirvana. Having learned thus truthfully, when this Dharma manifests, the water of birth will be exhausted, the pure conduct will be truly practiced, what needs to be done will be done, and one will no longer take rebirth in the future. When the Blessed One taught this Dharma discourse, the Venerable Ananda, free from dust and defilement, attained the pure Dharma eye. Those one hundred monks, with the exhaustion of clinging to phenomena, their minds were liberated. After the Blessed One spoke thus, the many assemblies rejoiced and praised what the Blessed One had said. The End of the Hundred Thousand Chapter, a Dharma Discourse from the Great Noble Jewel Heap Sutra.
