From the time of fully awakening to perfect enlightenment until completely passing into nirvana, even if I do not rise from the foot of the Bodhi tree, may my emanations go to each of the ten directions, to countless Buddha-fields, and teach the Dharma to sentient beings. I made such a prayer. O Bhagavan, furthermore, may there not even be the name of shravakas and pratyekabuddhas in my Buddha-field. May my Buddha-field be filled with bodhisattvas who are without hatred, jealousy, and concealment, who practice completely pure conduct, practicing brahmacharya. May not even the name of women be heard in that Buddha-field, and may there be no birth from the womb. May all those bodhisattvas wear reddish-brown robes, sit in the lotus posture, and be born miraculously. May that Buddha-field be exceedingly pure. May the emanations of the Tathagata go to countless worlds in the ten directions and teach the Dharma to sentient beings. Except for teaching the Dharma to sentient beings according to their inclinations, starting from the three vehicles, may there be no shravakas and pratyekabuddhas in that Buddha-field, but may it be completely filled with bodhisattvas. I made such a prayer. Then, the bodhisattva mahasattva Lion's Strength said to the Bhagavan with a distinctly proclaimed voice: O Bhagavan, what will be the name of the noble Manjushri when he becomes a young man and fully awakens to perfect enlightenment? The Bhagavan replied: Son of good family, he will be called the Tathagata Samantadarshin (All-Seeing). Son of good family, what do you think? Why is that Tathagata called Samantadarshin? Son of good family, that Tathagata Samantadarshin will be able to see countless Buddhas, the Bhagavat, in the ten directions, and any sentient beings who are able to see that Tathagata will

will surely transform. Son of lineage, whether it is the time of present occurrence, or even the time of my passing into nirvana, those who hear the name of the Thus-Gone One, the Foe-Destroyer, the Perfectly and Fully Awakened Buddha, the All-Seeing One, will enter into irreversibility, and for those with little faith, before they realize it, they will all manifestly and perfectly awaken to the Unsurpassed, Perfectly and Fully Awakened Enlightenment. Therefore, that Thus-Gone One is called the All-Seeing One. Then, Manjushri, become a youth, said this to the Blessed One: Blessed One, my aspiration is not like the Thus-Gone One, Immeasurable Light, who aspires to have joyful food. Blessed One, my aspiration is that in that Buddha-field of mine, when those Bodhisattvas who are born there have the thought of food, then immediately, in that instant, in their right hand there will appear a vessel filled with food that has hundreds of thousands of flavors. As soon as those vessels appear, they will think to themselves, 'We have not yet offered these to the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones of the ten directions. We have not satisfied those sentient beings who are poor and afflicted, without protectors, and those who are born in the realm of the pretas, who cannot find even a speck of saliva ash for thousands of years. It is not proper for us to eat ourselves.' When they have such thoughts, they will immediately attain the five kinds of clairvoyance. Endowed with miraculous powers, with the strength that does not fall from the sky and is as swift as the wind, they will go to the countless realms of the ten directions and offer that food to the Thus-Gone Ones and the Sangha of Hearers. They will also fully satisfy those sentient beings who are poor and afflicted, without protectors, and those who are born in the realm of the pretas, and teach them the Dharma, so that they may return to that Buddha-field in a single instant. That is how I have made my aspiration. Blessed One, furthermore, when I attain Bodhi, the Bodhisattvas in my Buddha-field
