Or come back again? They are all the same obstacles. Those beings, because of having practiced virtue in the past, when the time of death approaches, suffering comes near, and although they experience sickness and fever, they die with their minds not distracted, but with correct mindfulness. With correct mindfulness, they enter the mother's womb, and all phenomena arise from the power of karma, and everything arises from causes and conditions, so know that this is always a place of demons. Friend, this body is the home of all that is unclean, so it is not permanent by nature. It is a foolish thing, so know that it deceives the foolish. This body is a wheel of bones, with veins and sinews connected in various ways, with holes and vital points exposed. Although flesh, fat, bones, and marrow are intertwined and covered with skin, it is a cave full of extreme suffering and impurity because faults are not seen. The places of hair, body hair, nails, and teeth are different, and because of clinging to self and what belongs to self, one is always led involuntarily. Saliva, mucus, impurities, spittle, dust, bile, and phlegm constantly arise, and grease and rotten liquid flow out, and there are kidneys, spleen, liver, lungs, large and small intestines, filled with impurities and smelling of feces. It is filled with various kinds of worms. Impurities constantly flow from the upper and lower holes, and there are two places of digestion and non-digestion, covered with hard skin. You should examine each of these separately, thinking that this is like a rag. No matter what is eaten, drunk, chewed, it becomes saliva and mucus, enters the throat, and marrow and brain mix together and fall into the stomach. Just as a dog chews a dry bone, although it is not truly delicious, a delicious feeling arises from incorrect thoughts, and even if the food goes to the waist and rises up, it is swallowed again. Friend, this body is first soft, moist, thin, then hardens, and limbs stretch out, and unclean things grow larger.

Like a foul-smelling well, it is constantly nourished by the taste of salty, astringent, hot, sour, and other foods. Moreover, in the fire of the mother's womb, the faculties of the body are thoroughly cooked. In an unclean vessel, one constantly experiences the suffering of being intensely tormented. Whether standing, sitting, or lying down, one experiences suffering that is extremely difficult to bear, as if bound by five bonds or burned by fire, which cannot be described by analogy. Friend, the being dwelling in the womb is like this, dwelling in an unclean mire and tormented by many sufferings, yet because the faculties are sharp, the mind does not wander. Furthermore, some beings with little merit lie horizontally in the mother's womb, or sit upside down. This is either due to the power of past karma, or because the mother has eaten unbalanced food, excessively cold, excessively hot, excessively sour, excessively sweet, or excessively bitter. Or she has drunk excessively, engaged in excessive sexual activity, become ill, been oppressed by many sorrows, or been beaten. These factors also cause the mother's body to be completely tormented, and because the mother's body is completely tormented, the being dwelling in the womb is also completely tormented. Being completely tormented, one experiences much suffering. Experiencing much suffering, one trembles. Trembling, the body lies upside down and cannot be born. At this time, a skilled woman rubs her hands with butter or sesame oil and inserts them into the mother's womb, massaging the womb with her palm to restore the being to its original position. When the hand touches it, the being dwelling in the womb experiences unbearable great suffering. Friend, it is like this: for example, if someone cuts the skin and flesh of a very young boy or girl with a sharp knife and then scatters ashes on it, causing him to experience great suffering, so it is with the womb.
