After that, from being young to gradually growing into adulthood, there is also sorrow, lamentation, and torment by various diseases. Countless painful feelings are unspeakable, causing the body to suffer greatly. When one cannot bear the suffering of the body, one does not wish to live but prefers to die. Therefore, this body is a hotbed of suffering, extremely small. Even if it exists temporarily, it will eventually be destroyed. Therefore, all happy beings will eventually die, and nothing is eternally existent. Even if one is nourished by medicine and food and becomes long-lived, one will eventually be killed by the King of Death and will be born in desolate places. Therefore, recognizing that there is nothing to rejoice in birth, one should diligently and carefully accumulate future provisions, strive to practice brahmacharya, not be lazy, and always cultivate with joy meaningful actions, Dharma actions, meritorious actions, and purely virtuous actions. One should always separately observe one's own virtuous and non-virtuous actions and keep them in mind, so that there will be no great regret in the future. All things that should be clung to will eventually be separated, and virtuous and non-virtuous actions will truthfully determine the destination of the next life. O joyful ones, even if one lives to be a hundred years old, one will experience ten stages: faith is the stage of childhood, lying weakly on the ground; the second stage is becoming a young person, enjoying children's games; the third stage is entering adolescence, experiencing the pleasures of desire; the fourth stage is becoming strong, brave, and full of power; the fifth stage is having white hair, possessing the courage of wisdom; the sixth stage is being completely perfect, possessing memory and a nature skilled in thinking; the seventh stage is gradually aging, knowing the principles of the Dharma very well; the eighth stage is being already old, becoming powerless to do many things; the ninth stage is being extremely old, unable to do anything.

It is finished. The tenth is the hundred-year life span, which is the moment of death. Joyful one, those great stages are also shown in brief, so that four months make one season, and one hundred years have three hundred seasons, that is, each of the spring, summer, and winter seasons has one hundred seasons. Since there are twelve months in a year, there are also twelve hundred months. That is to say, if half a month is counted half a month, then half a month will also be eaten twenty-four million seven hundred and twenty thousand times. The number of times not eaten due to obstacles of circumstances is also included in that. The reasons for not eating are like this: not eating because of anger, not eating because of suffering, not eating because of striving and not getting, not eating because of falling asleep, not eating because of taking vows, not eating because of being intoxicated with play, not eating because of being in a hurry. If eating and not eating are added together, there are so many, and drinking mother's milk is also included in that number. Like that, I have fully shown the life of people, that is, the years, months, days and nights of a hundred-year life span, and the amount of what is drunk, eaten, and consumed, you should be completely weary of this. Joyful one, the body that is born and grows up like that also has many diseases, such as headaches, eye pain, nose pain, tongue pain, tooth pain, throat pain, heart pain, stomach pain, hand pain, damage caused by foot pain, as well as scabies, leprosy, drunkenness, swelling, goiter, bile disease, and phlegm, etc., many diseases cause the limbs and minor parts to ache and suffer. Joyful one, in the mother's body there are such various kinds of suffering from diseases. Furthermore, there are one hundred and one wind diseases, one hundred and one bile diseases, one hundred and one phlegm diseases, and one hundred and one combined diseases. In short, the body will be born in four hundred and four diseases, so joyful one, this body is like an abscess, like a thorn, it is manifestly made of many diseases, it cannot stay even for a moment and changes in an instant, its nature is impermanent, it is suffering, it is empty.

And without self, it is a dharma that is close to death and will be destroyed, and it is not trustworthy. Like joy, all sentient beings will also experience such suffering of birth. For example, the suffering of having hands cut off, feet cut off, eyes gouged out, ears cut off, noses cut off, tongues cut off, heads cut off, limbs and twigs cut off, and the suffering of being whipped, beaten, bound, and so on, and the suffering of hunger, thirst, and fatigue, and the various, immeasurable, and indescribable sufferings arising from contact with cold, heat, wind, rain, mosquitoes, horseflies, wild animals, and poisonous snakes, etc., will be experienced. Sentient beings are always in this unbearable, harsh, and unpleasant suffering, and are attached to and immersed in it, so even though desires are the root of suffering, they do not understand that they should abandon it. Instead, they constantly pursue it, and day and night their body and mind are tormented, and their inner being burns and is consumed, and this state never ends. Likewise, birth is also suffering. Aging is also suffering. Sickness is also suffering. Death is also suffering. Separation from loved ones is also suffering. Meeting with the unloved is also suffering. Not getting what one wants is also suffering. In short, the five aggregates of grasping are also suffering. The four modes of conduct, walking, standing, sitting, and lying down, are also suffering. If one is always walking, standing, sitting, and lying down, one will also feel suffering and will not be able to obtain happiness. If one is always standing and does not walk, sit, or lie down; or if one is always sitting and does not walk, stand, or lie down; or if one is always lying down and does not walk, stand, or sit, then all of these will experience endless suffering and will not be able to obtain happiness. Therefore, joy, all of these are because one has not abandoned suffering, but constantly pursues suffering.
