Sariputra, thus a Bodhisattva is practicing the Perfection of Wisdom. Sariputra, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, they generate the perception of a spiritual friend towards someone who holds the Bodhisattva's treasury, and they become extremely proficient in this very category of Dharma within the Bodhisattva's treasury. They purify it thoroughly, and for the sake of the meaning of this Bodhisattva's treasury, they generate desire, exert effort, initiate diligence, hold it firmly in their mind, and abide in it perfectly. By engaging thoroughly in the four perfect abandonments, they obtain all unobstructed Dharmas. Then, at that time, the Bhagavan spoke these verses: Whoever is a speaker of Dharma, Think of them as a spiritual friend, Constantly dwell with diligence, Listen to the Dharma with diligence. Constantly increase desire, Constantly excel in diligence, Constantly purify wisdom, Constantly abide in knowledge. They know the nature of Dharma themselves, They do not act for the sake of faith, Whatever is proclaimed by the Tathagata, They know is the immovable Dharma. Those wise ones are skilled in discerning words, Through learning, they comprehend the meaning, They constantly cultivate the white side, They constantly abandon the black side. Their mind never deteriorates, They are not intimidated by any Dharmas, Their body is light, as are their mind and diligence, And they quickly attain desire as well. Having heard the Dharma, wisdom increases, Having fully realized knowledge, they do not forget mindfulness, Constantly abiding in mindfulness and knowledge, They fully know good and non-good Dharmas. Having learned the unsurpassed Dharmas, They obtain realization, mindfulness, wisdom, and supreme strength. Just as they have practiced for a long time themselves, They also fully know the thoughts of sentient beings. Having learned the Dharma, they will obtain distinction, Having obtained distinction and purified knowledge, They know the thoughts of sentient beings, Therefore, they teach the Dharma according to their thoughts. Sariputra, thus a Bodhisattva is practicing the Perfection of Wisdom. Sariputra, furthermore, a Bodhisattva

Furthermore, Bodhisattvas, practicing in the Perfection of Wisdom, should train their minds in this way, and purify the door of appearance of all phenomena in this way. They should learn as follows: The arising of noble right view has two causes and two conditions. What are the two? They are hearing the voice of others and attending properly to oneself. They think to themselves: What is the voice of others? What is attending properly to oneself? When they attend properly in this way, they think to themselves: Those practitioners who have not heard the categories of teachings of the Bodhisattva Pitaka, who have not heard the discipline of the noble ones, who have found joy in mere samadhi, and who have fallen into great pride due to their ego, will not be liberated from birth, aging, sickness, death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and turmoil. They will not be liberated from the heap of suffering. The Tathagata, mindful of them, spoke as follows: Hearing that which accords with others is liberation from aging and death. Furthermore, the Bhagavan said: Having heard the teachings, one understands them; having heard, one does not commit evil; having heard, one abandons harm; having heard, one attains nirvana; the desire to hear increases hearing; hearing increases wisdom; with wisdom, one practices all meanings; having obtained meaning, one obtains happiness; having obtained meaning, one's mind is sharp; in this life, one attains nirvana; pure Dharma, many pure wise ones, will attain supreme happiness. Shariputra, in this way, Bodhisattvas should listen intently to the categories of teachings of the Bodhisattva Pitaka, the discipline of the noble ones. They should accept them, grasp them, recite them, understand them completely, and also extensively and accurately explain them to others. Shariputra, those who do not listen to the categories of teachings of the Bodhisattva Pitaka and do not apply themselves properly will fall away from the noble path. Mindful of them, the Tathagata spoke as follows: Attending properly to oneself is liberation from aging, sickness, and death. They should learn in this way, Bodhi.
