Thus he thought. Then, at that time, a girl was walking along the side of the road, carrying seven Utpala flowers. Then, the young Brahmin Cloud said to the girl, 'Hey girl, where can these water-born flowers be found?' After speaking thus, she replied, 'In a certain large street, at the house of a garland maker, I bought them for five hundred Karshapanas.' Then, the young Brahmin Cloud said to the girl, 'Sell me these water-born flowers for the same price you bought them for.' After he spoke thus, the girl replied, 'That is not possible.' He then said, 'If so, keep two for yourself and sell me five for five hundred Karshapanas.' She asked, 'What will you do with these?' He replied, 'I will offer them to the Blessed One, Dipankara.' She said, 'If you vow to be my family in all states of existence, in all births and deaths, then I will give them to you.' He said, 'Girl, stop! Do not say such things.' Why? Because you are distracted and wild. Girl, the unsurpassed Dharma of the Buddha, which is countless, must be accomplished through countless eons. Therefore, like this: guests, jewels, pearls, lapis lazuli, conch shells, agate, great coral, gold, silver, and possessing horses, elephants, donkeys, cows, sheep, even the position of a king is completely given away, chariots are completely given away, fields are completely given away, sons and daughters are completely given away, hands are completely given away, bones, feet, topknots are completely given away, ears, noses, eyes, limbs are completely given away as offerings should be made. In short, girl, there is nothing, internal or external, that I will not give away. Girl, I can even give you away, if the time and circumstances are ripe for leaving home and going forth into homelessness with faith in the teachings of the Tathagata. You are distracted and wild, do not be an obstacle to my giving.' After he spoke thus, she said, 'Even if you were to cut flesh from your body the size of mustard seeds and give it away, I would not be an obstacle to your giving.' After she spoke thus, she...

May it be so. He said, "Please give me the flowers that grow in the water," and he gave them to him. Then, the young Brahmin Cloud took those Utpala flowers and went to where the Blessed One, the Tathagata Dipamkara, was. The young Brahmin Cloud saw the Blessed One, the Tathagata Dipamkara, surrounded and attended by hundreds of thousands of kotis of beings. The scope of good conduct should be vast. He developed a joyful mind towards the Blessed One. After developing a joyful mind, he developed great joy, faith, and respect, and went to where the Blessed One Dipamkara was. The young Brahmin Cloud saw many people spreading fine clothes before the Blessed One Dipamkara, and because he himself had no clothes, he thought, "I should spread the deerskin." When he spread the deerskin, those people ridiculed him, saying, "How can such a being spread a deerskin before the Rare One?" And they tore off the spread deerskin. Then, the young Brahmin Cloud went to the distant edge, and after going, he spread the deerskin and thought, "Blessed One, Tathagata Dipamkara, please consider, please place your feet on this deerskin." After the Blessed One, the Tathagata Dipamkara, considered, he placed his feet on the deerskin of the young Brahmin Cloud. Then, the young Brahmin Cloud rejoiced and was delighted, and developed great joy and pleasure, and scattered five Utpala flowers to the Tathagata Dipamkara. Hundreds of thousands of sons of the gods scattered heavenly Mandarava flowers, heavenly Utpala flowers, lotuses, and heavenly sandalwood powder to the Blessed One, the Tathagata Dipamkara. They played heavenly instruments and sang heavenly songs, and in order to serve the Blessed One, the Tathagata Dipamkara, they turned those Utpala flowers into thousands of Utpala flowers, with the flower stamens facing down and the flower stems facing up, to offer to the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened One.

He made extensive offerings to the Buddha Dipamkara. For example, the young Brahmin Cloud-Mind, with oil of golden hue, continuously offered it for twelve years in the five eyes of the Blessed One Dipamkara. Thinking: Will I in the future become a Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One? May the Blessed One confirm me. Please lead me by the hand, thus he made a firm vow. The Blessed One, the Tathagata Dipamkara, if he does not place his foot on my golden-hued hair, does not confirm me, does not prophesy my enlightenment, I would rather wither and die here. Thus he also made a vow. Shariputra, thereafter, the Blessed One, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One Dipamkara, with all-seeing eyes, all-knowing, not possessing even the slightest ignorance of the three times, knowing the thoughts of the Brahmin boy Cloud, placed his foot on the golden-hued hair of the Brahmin boy Cloud, and looking from the right side with the gaze of an elephant, said to the assembly of Shravakas: Bhikshus, do not place your feet on the hairs! Why is that? Bhikshus, this Brahmin boy, after countless eons, will become the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One Shakyamuni Buddha. Thus he declared. Shariputra, thus the Brahmin boy Cloud, having heard the prophecy from the Blessed One, the Tathagata Dipamkara, rejoiced and was delighted, and rose up into the sky above, manifesting countless hundreds of thousands of millions of inexpressible Samadhis. With the power of his manifest wisdom, in the east, Buddhas and Blessed Ones surpassing the sands of the Ganges, all said: I, the Brahmin boy, you, in the future after countless eons, will become the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One Shakyamuni Buddha. Thus they prophesied. Similarly, in the south, west, north, and likewise in the southeast, below, between above, all the Buddhas in the ten directions.
