Directing the mind towards concentration, drawing it near, this is called the limb of perfect enlightenment of thorough cultivation. So, what is the Samadhi of perfect enlightenment limb? It is when the mind remains balanced, one will understand the Dharma; if the mind does not remain balanced, it is not so. When the mind remains balanced, one will completely awaken to those Dharmas; if the mind does not remain balanced, it is not so. Apart from the equality of Dharma and focusing on the Dharma, one cannot realize it by being entangled in subsequent attachments. This is the Samadhi of the perfect enlightenment limb. So, what is the equanimity of the perfect enlightenment limb? It is when the mind does not cling to the Dharmas that are in accordance with pleasant and unpleasant aspects, and is not robbed by worldly Dharmas, and does not dwell in high or low, therefore it does not waver, does not become disturbed, does not become extremely disturbed, does not become completely disturbed, does not become attached, does not become hateful, and acts in accordance with that noble path itself. This is the equanimity of the perfect enlightenment limb. Shariputra, in this way, the Bodhisattva, being skilled in the seven limbs of enlightenment, practices the Prajnaparamita. ...Nineteenth Chapter. So, what is it that Bodhisattvas are skilled in the path? The path of Bodhisattvas is these eight. Which eight? They are: right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration. These are the eightfold path of the Bodhisattvas. So, what is right view? It is the noble view that transcends the world, not arising from the view of self, not arising from the view of sentient beings, not arising from the view of life, not arising from the view of person, not arising from the view of annihilation, permanence, arising, or destruction, not arising from the ten views of good and non-good, and not arising from the view of Nirvana. This is what is called right view. So, what is right thought? It is the thought that eliminates desire, hatred, ignorance, and so on.

What is Samadhi? It is being equal in reality, being equal in all dharmas. Abiding thoroughly in that Samadhi and entering into reality, if a Bodhisattva abides in Samadhi, and enters into reality in order to liberate all sentient beings, that is called True Samadhi. This inexhaustible path of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the past, future, and present, when Bodhisattvas realize it and explain, teach, and truly reveal it, that is called True Samadhi. These are called the eight-limbed path of the Bodhisattvas, and that is the Bodhisattva's skill in the path. Furthermore, skill in the path is the two-limbed path of the Bodhisattvas. What are the two limbs? They are Shamatha and Vipashyana. That is called the two-limbed path. What is Shamatha? It is when the mind is calm, extremely calm, nearly calm, undistracted, the senses are subdued, not coarse, not arrogant, not haughty, not garrulous, subdued, hidden, unwavering, pleasing, delighting in solitude, eliminating bustle, delighting in quietude, the body is secluded, the mind is not confused, contemplating the door of solitude, being content, having few desires, living purely, having perfect rituals, acting secretly, knowing the time, knowing the measure, knowing the warmth, being easy to satisfy, easy to nourish, individually discerning, neither high nor low, enduring harsh words, generating thought in the door of yoga, greatly rejoicing in inner correct concentration, contemplating the limbs of meditation, generating love, realizing compassion, abiding in joy, meditating on equanimity, gradually entering into absorption from the first Dhyana up to the eighth. That is known as Shamatha. Also, there is no accumulation of Shamatha. Whatever is subsequently realized in that accumulation, that is known as Shamatha. What is Vipashyana? It is the path of meditation that is in accordance with the part of wisdom, without wavering in all dharmas, sentient beings
