Abiding is called consciousness. Among them, what is wisdom? Abiding in the five aggregates that grasp, and fully knowing the aggregate of consciousness, that is called wisdom. Knowing the consciousness of the earth element, the water element, the fire element, and the wind element, that is called consciousness. Furthermore, not abiding in the four elements, and knowing that the realm of phenomena is undifferentiated, that is called wisdom. Moreover, that which is called consciousness is knowing the forms known by eye consciousness, the sounds known by ear consciousness, the smells known by nose consciousness, the tastes known by tongue consciousness, the tactile sensations known by body consciousness, and the phenomena known by mind consciousness; knowing these is called consciousness. Furthermore, being peaceful within the internal sources, not moving towards external sources, relying on wisdom, and not diminishing any phenomenon, that is called wisdom. Moreover, that which is called consciousness is the arising of consciousness from an object, and the arising of various consciousnesses from discrimination; that is called consciousness. Furthermore, not grasping, not being arrogant, not focusing, not discriminating, not being confused, that is called wisdom. Furthermore, consciousness abides in phenomena that are conditioned, but consciousness does not move towards the unconditioned. Furthermore, knowing the unconditioned, that is wisdom. Furthermore, abiding in birth and destruction is consciousness. Furthermore, not being born, not ceasing, not abiding, that is called wisdom. Among them, what are the sutras of provisional meaning? What are the sutras of definitive meaning? Those sutras that lead one to enter the path are of provisional meaning. Those sutras that lead one to enter the fruit are of definitive meaning. Those sutras that accomplish conventional truth are of provisional meaning. Those sutras that reveal ultimate truth are of definitive meaning. Furthermore, those sutras that lead one to engage in actions of karma are of provisional meaning. Those sutras that concern karma and afflictions

Those that show the cessation of afflictions are called definitive meaning. Furthermore, those sutras that are taught for the purpose of fully explaining all afflictions are of provisional meaning. Those sutras that are taught for the sake of complete purification and complete cleansing are of definitive meaning. Those sutras that cause one to be weary of samsara are of provisional meaning. Those sutras that do not fall into the two extremes of samsara and nirvana are of definitive meaning. Those sutras that are taught in various letters and words are of provisional meaning. Those sutras that are profound, difficult to see, and difficult to understand are of definitive meaning. Those sutras that have many words and phrases and make the minds of sentient beings happy are of provisional meaning. Those sutras that have few words and phrases but lead to definite understanding are of definitive meaning. Furthermore, those sutras that teach the various sounds of self, sentient being, life, person, pudgala, born of mind, born from mind, agent, and experiencer as if they were without a master, as if they had a master, are of provisional meaning. Those sutras that teach emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, non-arising, unborn, truly non-arising, no sentient being, no person, and the door of liberation from the three times are called definitive meaning. What is dharma? What is a person? Those who abide in the view of a person and engage in certain dharmas are called persons. The place where the dharma abides, which is created by the view of a person, is the realm of dharma, which is the dharma to be known. Furthermore, a person is an ordinary person, an ordinary virtuous person, a person who follows faith, a person who follows dharma, an eighth person, a stream-enterer, a once-returner, a non-returner, an arhat, a pratyekabuddha, a bodhisattva, one who benefits many people, one who brings happiness to many people, one who has compassion for the world, and one person for the sake of the benefit, welfare, and happiness of a large group of gods and humans.

Just as it occurs to be born in the world, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened Buddha, all those words of "person" are taught by the Tathagata in order to embrace sentient beings through the position of conventional truth. Among them, those that manifestly cling are called "non-reliance." In order to establish them in reliance, one should rely on the nature of reality, not on the person. Thus spoke the Blessed One. What is the nature of reality? It is: unchanging, not fabricated, not acting, not discriminating, not abiding, without a place, without a root, equal in all ways, equal in equality, equal in inequality, equal in equality and inequality, not discriminating, not acting, having attained certainty. The characteristic of extreme selflessness in all phenomena is called the nature of reality. Those who rely on that nature of reality do not rely on any realm. Therefore, by entering the door of the manner of Dharma, in order to rely on all phenomena, all phenomena are such a nature of reality. These are called the four reliances of Bodhisattvas, which is the Bodhisattva's skill in reliance. Thus, the Bodhisattva, skilled in reliance, practices the Prajnaparamita. What is the Bodhisattva's skill in accumulation? The accumulations of Bodhisattvas are two: what are the two? They are: the accumulation of merit and the accumulation of wisdom. What is the accumulation of merit? The object of merit arising from generosity, the object of merit arising from ethics, the object of merit arising from meditation, the absorption of loving-kindness, the practice of compassion, engaging in all roots of virtue, confessing the sins of oneself and others, all sentient beings belonging to the three times, all learners, all non-learners, all solitary Buddhas, as well as those who first generate the mind, those who enter into practice, those who are irreversible, and rejoicing in the aspiration of Bodhisattvas who are bound by one lifetime.
