Thus I have heard. In millions of eons, like the Udumbara flower, it is very difficult to hear, I am his disciple. Thus, Shariputra, the parents of that boy gave twenty crores of gold, saying, "This boy is the wealth of your parents, give to whomever your heart believes in." Having said this, they also spoke these verses: This is your father's wealth, this is your mother's wealth, wherever your heart believes, boy, please give. Wealth and gold things, all the things in this house, take them quickly, and offer them wherever your heart believes. Bedding and cushions, perfumes, garlands, incense, etc., take them as you like, and give them wherever your heart believes. Buddha, Dharma and Sangha are the supreme fields of merit, for the benefit of all sentient beings, give to them. Shariputra, then the boy again said these verses to his parents: The all-seeing protector of the world, I go before him, for the benefit of all sentient beings, I will make a very great offering. Gods and humans, all those who desire happiness, wherever I go, may all come after me. Shariputra, then the boy, knowing this, looked in the four directions, and said to his parents: Parents, I am going to where the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened, the all-seeing Buddha is. Having said this, many people heard it, and they thought: How can a boy who was born only one day ago speak to his parents and walk with his feet? After thinking like this, four hundred million kotis of sentient beings gathered there. Is this boy a god? A dragon? A Yaksha? A Gandharva? An Asura? A Garuda? A Kinnara? A non-human? I want to know who he is. Then the boy, together with those eighty-four thousand sentient beings, went to where the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, the all-seeing one, was. Again, Shari

As the boy child walked, ten thousand umbrellas appeared from the space above, and those umbrellas protected his body, preventing his body from being harmed by wind and sun. Also, as the boy child walked, a golden net was hung from the space above. Also, as the boy child walked, rains of flowers and rains of powder surpassing the works of the gods fell abundantly. Also, as the boy child walked, a cool breeze with the scent of the gods arose. Also, as the boy child walked, the road was sprinkled with perfumed water. Also, as the boy child walked, the road was covered with golden bricks. Also, as the boy child walked, the road was strewn with rains of divine flowers, about knee-deep. Also, as the boy child walked, thousands of ponds appeared. Those ponds were all filled with water possessing eight qualities, and were covered with উৎপল (utpala, blue lotus), lotuses, কুমুদ (kumuda, white water lily), and white lotuses, and emitted pleasant sounds. Also, as the boy child walked, the edges of the road were lined with platforms of the seven precious jewels. Also, as the boy child walked, many divine musical instruments played. Also, as the boy child walked, the right and left sides of the road were completely adorned with jewels. Also, as the boy child walked, a street of flowers appeared in front of him. There, putting down and lifting up the feet would disappear. Then, the boy child proceeded on the road for a while. Looking back, he spoke in verse: Reason and unreason never accompany each other, Now on the vast road, they exist separately. You are unreason, now it is reason, Reason will go to the presence of the victor. Even though many hundreds of thousands of eons have passed, In hundreds of paths, one obtains a human body, In hundreds of paths, a Buddha will appear, Faith and wisdom are also obtained in hundreds of paths. Shariputra, as soon as the boy child spoke those verses, from the space above, eight hundred thousand billion gods gave praise, saying: Well done, well done, great wisdom! What you have said is supreme. The unreasonable ones come from behind, friend, reasonable one, you proceed! Shariputra, then the boy child again spoke in verse to the gods: You have spoken of reason and wisdom, you

Speaking of race. What is the meaning of race? What is the meaning of non-race? Shariputra, then those gods again spoke these verses to that boy: Those who dwell in the enjoyment of desires, those are not the places of manifest enjoyment. Those are the ignorant non-races, those beings are the abodes of hell. Having abandoned the enjoyment of desires, they renounce and become homeless. In this world, those are the races, those are the races, wisdom is widely proclaimed. Shariputra, then that boy again spoke these verses to those gods: What is called racial wisdom? You do not know it. What is non-race that should be known? I fully understand it. Thus, Shariputra, that boy went to where the Blessed One Tathagata Omniscient was. Having gone, he bowed his head to the feet of the Blessed One, circumambulated three times, and sat on one side. The Blessed One Tathagata Omniscient praised him with those verses. Acting for the benefit of the world, the three lineages bestow nectar widely, the great elephant and the great lion, I always prostrate to you. The illuminator of the world is extremely rare, the protector of the world, the light-maker, like the Udumbara flower, possessing color and beautiful shape. This world cherishes attachment, does not abide on the noble path, like the blind on the ground, running on the evil path. O Supreme among men, how are you, I have become the Buddha of the world. From the suffering burned by the three fires, liberate sentient beings. All these hundred lives have come for my sake. Teach them the Dharma, and pray for the attainment of supreme enlightenment. Then, Shariputra, after the boy spoke these verses, he said to the Blessed One Tathagata Arhat Perfectly Complete Buddha Omniscient, who taught the Dharma, in this way. Eighty-four thousand lives also said to the Blessed One Tathagata Arhat Perfectly Complete Buddha Omniscient: Blessed One, we will also become Tathagatas in the future.
