The Sugata Great Perseverance's lifespan became able to last for half a kalpa. His monastic community of Śrāvakas also appeared immeasurable. In each of his Śrāvaka assemblies, there were twelve kotis of nayutas, and only Arhats. Shariputra, thus, the Bodhisattva, without diminishing diligence, practicing the Perfection of Diligence, heard many categories of Dharma from the Bodhisattva Pitaka, and by holding, retaining, reading, and completely understanding them, eventually, until the Tathagata Great Perseverance appeared in the world. Shariputra, therefore, sons of good family or daughters of good family who have entered the Great Vehicle, those who wish to quickly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, those without diminishing diligence, should listen very carefully to the categories of Dharma from the Bodhisattva Pitaka, from holding them to extensively and accurately proclaiming them. Why is that? Shariputra, for example, this undiminished diligence in completely seeking the number of categories of Dharma in the Bodhisattva Pitaka is the perfection of the Bodhisattvas. Shariputra, this is the diligence of diligence, the Perfection of Diligence of the Bodhisattvas; by diligence in this, the Bodhisattvas practice the conduct of Bodhisattvas. The ninth chapter, the Perfection of Diligence, is complete. Ninth: The Chapter on the Perfection of Diligence.
