From city to city, from region to region, this category of Dharma of the Bodhisattva Pitaka is correctly and thoroughly taught and transmitted. For sixty years, I have fully matured countless other beings, such as gods and humans, in these three vehicles: the Hearer Vehicle, the Solitary Buddha Vehicle, and the unsurpassed Great Vehicle. Furthermore, he made the aspiration to be reborn as a human at death, and by the power of that aspiration, he was reborn in a certain royal family in Jambudvipa. As soon as he was born, a god exclaimed, "How wonderful! This teacher of Dharma for sentient beings has been born into the world! How wonderful! This teacher of Dharma for sentient beings has been born into the world!" And his name was given as Dharma Teacher, Dharma Teacher. He, having been born with fully matured faculties, as if he were twenty years old, went forth from home to homelessness with faith. Having thus gone forth, the Bhikshu Dharma Teacher, having developed the power of mindfulness and the power of wisdom, again manifested the category of Dharma of the Bodhisattva Pitaka. Shariputra, thus the Bhikshu Dharma Teacher, with these categories of Dharma of the Bodhisattva Pitaka that cut off doubt, for sixty thousand years, in villages, cities, towns, regions, districts, and various royal palaces, correctly and thoroughly taught. For sixty thousand years, he fully matured countless other beings, such as gods and humans, in unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, and he also made the aspiration to be reborn as a human at death. This being who has attained mindfulness has been born into the world! How wonderful! This being who has attained mindfulness has been born into the world!" And his name was given as Attained Mindfulness, Mindfulness. For ten million years, he traveled around towns and cities, regions, villages, and the vicinity of royal palaces, teaching the Dharma, with the aim of cutting off all doubts. This Dharma teaching of the Bodhisattva Pitaka, in towns, cities, villages, regions, villages, and the vicinity of royal palaces, taught the Dharma for sixty thousand years. At that time, there was a Bodhisattva prince named Brave Giver, a well-learned and disciplined youth with discerning abilities. Shariputra, this youth, accompanied by his attendants and surrounded by eighty billion hundred thousand beings, led the way and went to where the Bhagavan Tathagata Arhat Samyaksambuddha, the Exceedingly High Departed One, was. Having arrived, the youth Brave Giver and his attendants bowed their heads at the feet of the Bhagavan Exceedingly High Departed One and sat down to one side. As they sat to one side, Shariputra, the Bhagavan Tathagata Exceedingly High Departed One, knowing the intentions of the youth Brave Giver, perfectly revealed a true story related to his past lives. Then, Shariputra, the prince youth Brave Giver, having heard the story of his past lives, developed great faith. His mind filled with faith, he, along with those eighty billion hundred thousand beings, renounced their homes and became monks out of faith. There, for as long as they lived, they sought enlightenment and practiced pure conduct. The Bhagavan Tathagata Exceedingly High Departed One told the monks: This Bodhisattva Mahasattva Brave Giver will, after me, attain unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, becoming a Tathagata Arhat Samyaksambuddha named Great Perseverance, who will appear in the world, and will be known as the Buddha Bhagavan. He prophesied. After the Bhagavan Tathagata Exceedingly High Departed One passed into complete Nirvana, he made offerings to the relics and correctly upheld the sacred Dharma, and afterwards attained unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, becoming the Tathagata Great Perseverance.
