Having shaved his beard and hair, and donned the saffron robes, he went forth from home to homelessness with faith. When the king learned that he had manifested and gone forth, sixty billion hundred thousand kotis of beings went forth from home to homelessness with faith. He (the king) made offerings to the relics of the Blessed One after his complete passing away, and immediately after his death, he was born as the king of the gods in the Tushita heaven. After he passed away from the Tushita heaven, in that same kalpa, he awakened to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, manifested as a Buddha, a Tathagata, an Arhat, a perfectly and completely enlightened Buddha named 'Good Conduct' appeared in the world. Endowed with knowledge and conduct. Buddha, Blessed One, even to the Knower. He remained for a full hundred million years. His assembly of hearers also gathered a great assembly of hearers, numbering a full hundred million kotis. All were Arhats. From the exhaustion of defilements to the attainment of the ultimate perfection of all mental powers. Hundreds of thousands of Bodhisattva Mahasattvas were also established in the state of non-retrogression from unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. Having taught the Dharma, he benefited immeasurable and countless beings, and then passed into complete nirvana. The sacred Dharma after his complete passing away remained for more than a kalpa. His relics also increased. Just as, for example, when I pass into complete nirvana, my relics will increase. Shariputra, the vows of a Bodhisattva, and after abiding in the vows of a Bodhisattva, a Bodhisattva should study and diligently practice the perfection of diligence, but should not follow those beings who abide in stinginess and rigidity. Shariputra, if a Bodhisattva desires to attain enlightenment but develops stinginess towards the families of others, know that at that time he will face three fears. What are the three? Speaking in the families of others for the sake of food. When seeing other noble monks because of speaking everywhere, jealousy and stinginess arise, and even if only a single thought of anger arises, there will be disharmony.

If one does so, one will completely grasp the path to the hells of sentient beings, sow the seeds of blindness, and completely grasp the place of being born in the borderlands. Shariputra, if someone sees a virtuous monk and is overwhelmed by the power of anger, does not speak with an angry mind and generates miserliness, and is discordant even with a single thought of anger, then that person will completely grasp the path to the hells of sentient beings, sow the seeds of blindness, and even if born as a human, will completely grasp the place of being born in the land of borderland people. One will become very angry, become blind, be dependent on others, and increase slander. Shariputra, whenever a Bodhisattva generates jealousy and miserliness towards another's household, at that time one should remember these three fears. Having said this, the Blessed One said to the venerable Shariputra: Blessed One, those Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, such attainment is a very good attainment. It is wonderful that the Tathagata has spoken of such things arising from household miserliness! Blessed One, please also explain well to us Shravakas the things that arise from household miserliness. Blessed One, we also wish to be liberated from the hells of sentient beings, we do not wish to be blind, we do not wish to have unfounded disputes, we do not wish to slander, we do not wish to go to the borderlands, Blessed One, we wish to go to the center of the country, we have not abandoned the Tathagata and listening to the Dharma. Having said this, the Blessed One said to the venerable Shariputra: Shariputra, you abide in this way and are upright, it is very good that you think of asking the Tathagata about this matter! Very good! It is wonderful! Therefore, Shariputra, for those in the world who wish to learn the Buddha's teachings, it should be explained. What is the reason for this? Shariputra, it should be explained in front of those who wish to learn the Buddha's teachings. What is the reason for this? Sha
