Having transformed and returned, after the stupa of the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Complete Buddha was built, they performed the work of the stupa's offerings for forty thousand years. When they knew that the umbrella of the Tathagata's stupa had been erected, they stood with their palms together for seventy thousand years, prostrating to the Tathagata's stupa. When they reached the end of their lives, they died and were reborn in Jambudvipa, in the lineage of a Chakravartin king, born as twins in their mother's womb. As soon as they were born, they remembered each other and said, "We should abide in mindfulness. We should cultivate the excellence of mindfulness." Then they spoke these verses: "In a prosperous and flourishing, always bountiful, delightful royal lineage, we are born. We should utterly abandon arrogance without mindfulness, and strive to accomplish the supreme Bodhi. Desires and enjoyments, as well as the reign of a king, are unreliable and will not last long. When completely seeking the supreme Bodhi, the wise do not generate desire for them. Whoever enters Bodhi for the benefit of sentient beings does not generate desire for desires and enjoyments. Quickly abandon desires and renounce, practicing the supreme and pure Brahmacharya. From the exceedingly vast past, even having enjoyed divine objects and human goodness, and the five qualities of desire, one never finds satisfaction in them. Therefore, one should abandon the flourishing kingdom, relatives, and these qualities of desire. Having been born in this body, quickly renounce and strive diligently for Bodhi." After they were born, when they were about sixteen years old, they shaved their hair and beards, donned saffron robes, and with faith, renounced from home to homelessness, practicing Brahmacharya for twenty thousand years. Then they died and were reborn in the Brahma realm. Having died from the Brahma realm, they were reborn in Jambudvipa. Again, Shariputra, at that time, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Complete Buddha, named Immaculate Crest, possessed knowledge and conduct, Sugata, World

Knowing the world. The unsurpassed tamer of beings. The teacher of gods and humans. The Buddha Bhagavan appeared in the world. The Tathagata was pleased by those two. Those two shaved their hair and beards in front of the Tathagata, and wore saffron robes. With faith, they went forth from home to homelessness. Those two went forth and practiced brahmacharya for a full hundred thousand kotis of years. Shariputra, in countless ways, he pleased a hundred thousand Buddhas. The Bodhisattva, the one with vows, practiced brahmacharya in all places. Abiding in the Bodhisattva's vows, he practiced brahmacharya in front of one Tathagata. Shariputra, among them, the one called Bodhisattva Vows, previously manifested the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment and became a Buddha. The Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha, named Vigorous Blaze, endowed with knowledge and conduct. Sugata. Knowing the world. The unsurpassed tamer of beings, the teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha Bhagavan appeared in the world. He lived for ninety kotis of years. His Shravaka assembly also had a great gathering of ninety kotis of hundreds of thousands of kotis of Shravakas. Shariputra, among them, the one called Abiding in the Bodhisattva's Vows, was the Chakravartin king of the Bhagavan Tathagata Vigorous Blaze who attained enlightenment. He offered clothes, food, bedding, medicine, and all necessities to the Tathagata and the Sangha for three months, with respect, veneration, and worship. Then, Shariputra, the Bhagavan Tathagata Arhat Samyak-sambuddha Vigorous Blaze, knowing that the king was coming, spoke these verses at that time to encourage the king: To attain the Buddha's teachings, diligence is supreme, beings who are greedy for desire, are very rare to benefit beings. The meaning of desire

What is that? That is not the act of a wise person. You dwell meaninglessly, not seeking the supreme meaning. You and I, in the past, were brothers. We vowed to quickly achieve complete and perfect enlightenment. I have attained enlightenment, behold, I am turning the wheel of Brahma. You, however, guard your home and wife, dwelling for a long time. The wise do not trust in these. The Victorious One said that these desires are evil. People recklessly pursue desires, therefore, always completely abandon meaningless things. Foolish people carry meaningless burdens, you dwell completely in meaninglessness. The noble ones praise arising, but do not know that desires are the source of obtaining suffering. The Blessed One urged him with these verses, but he did not look at his son, nor did he look at his wife, nor at the merchant, minister, father, mother, the king of the city, towns, regions, and the entire kingdom, nor was he attached to all the piles of wealth, but rose from his seat and sat before the Blessed One, and at that time spoke these verses: For the sake of the Buddha's enlightenment, I will make my flesh wither. I will abandon all homes, and go to a solitary place to die. For the benefit of all living beings, I will renounce my home and go forth, relying on solitary practice places, and again generate diligence. Do not rely on the evil words of children, nor rely on them for the sake of desire, because dwelling in them, I have turned my back on the right path. Desires and enjoyments, and the kingdom, all these I have completely abandoned. Today I will go forth in the teachings of the Protector of the World. If one practices for the sake of enlightenment, who among the wise would trust in conditioned phenomena? Where I was indulging in desires, even though I generated diligence, I did not touch enlightenment. Therefore, I have abandoned the qualities of desire, abandoned the pleasure of enjoyment and the pleasure of the kingdom. Especially going forth for the teachings of the Victorious One, I will generate diligence for the sake of supreme enlightenment. Having spoken these verses, he shaved his
