Without cause, without condition. The afflictions of all sentient beings are also without cause and without condition, and all sentient beings become afflicted. Without cause, without condition. The purity of all sentient beings is also without cause and without condition, and sentient beings attain purity. Thus abiding in the view of no cause, I have accumulated many unwholesome deeds. The ripening of those deeds is such that, among humans, not all objects of giving are able to live nearby, and I obtain a human body with incomplete faculties. There, I become foolish, distracted, stuttering, mute, confused, idiotic, blind, and deaf. I have no power to hold, receive, read, or comprehend those that are endowed with words, letters, and meaning, up to those that are endowed with nirvana. Therefore, I have not pleased such objects of giving. Now I please the objects of giving, even to the point of disregarding body and life. Whatever is endowed with words, letters, and meaning, up to that which is endowed with nirvana, such as this category of Dharma from the Bodhisattva's treasury, I am able to hold, up to complete comprehension. However, I have exerted effort and diligence. Thus, for the sake of receiving this category of Dharma from the Bodhisattva's treasury, I shall make offerings and show reverence to the teacher of the body. Having held, read, recited, and revered, I shall extract the essence from this meaningless body. I shall become closely dependent on the power of merit and wisdom. By the power of that merit and wisdom, I shall become closely established, thinking that I will be close to this Bodhisattva's treasury. I will intentionally focus and make offerings and show reverence to the teacher, even offering a full vase of water. In this, its nature is this, and it should be said thus: Whatever Dharma is endowed with meaning, the limb of the path, the path of meditation, the manifestation of cessation, the path of nirvana is the essence. Those Dharmas are all abandoned, and whatever Dharma is without benefit and does not possess meaning and words, those Dharmas I shall attend to. There is no diligence and strength, and the power of a man is also none.

. Those who are extremely foolish and those who are supreme, all of them are invisible. There is no Buddha, and there is no Dharma. Just like having no parents. White and black deeds, all ripening is non-existent. Those who hold such sinful views, by repeatedly relying on them, are utterly unbearable and cruel. Sentient beings remain in hell for a long time. Likewise, the birth place of animals and the world of Yama are sinful. Even if one is born as a human being at any time, one will become foolish and without a tongue. One will become distracted and deaf. One will become stammering, mute, and ignorant. For a long time, one will suffer in the unbearable hell, and fall utterly due to inauspiciousness. All senses are mutually supportive, and this body of mine is very beautiful. For a long time, I should strive for this. Whatever Dharma is meaningful, and whatever helps to overcome suffering, the path to enlightenment and enlightenment itself. It is time for me to strive. The treasury of the Bodhisattva, which is endowed with profound meaning, is very difficult to hear even after millions of eons. For the sake of the Buddha's enlightenment, these many teachings of the Buddha and other inconceivable things should be entered into and grasped. By being respectful to the teacher and by serving him, one will attain the hearing of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. The fearless Bodhisattva, who possesses skillful means and wisdom, having generated the mind in this way, should also offer a pot of water. Shariputra, having generated this eighth mind of enlightenment, one should serve and attend to the teacher for the sake of the Bodhisattva's treasury of teachings, and even offer a pot of water. Furthermore, Shariputra, the Bodhisattva generates the mind in this way: Alas, these sentient beings are completely surrounded by meaningless things, clinging to body and life. Being surrounded by meaning means not clinging to body and life. What is meant by being surrounded by meaningless things? It is like this: clinging to body and life, not paying attention to the dharmas related to enlightenment, and with self-grasping as the forerunner, hiding, wrapping, rubbing, washing, and squeezing oneself, being surrounded by these is called being surrounded by meaningless things.
