One should act like this. Do not be like a small animal. I should know everything, and not become violent. I should eat conscious food and non-inferior food, and not eat unconscious food and inferior food. I should meditate on those self-natured meditations that lead to obtaining good meditation, excellent meditation, supreme meditation, and sacred samadhi, and not meditate on non-self-natured meditation and inferior meditation. I should delight in the meditation of the Buddha, and not in the meditation of the Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and all ordinary people. I should meditate without abiding anywhere, not abiding in form, not abiding in feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness. I should meditate without abiding in the earth element, and meditate without abiding in the water element, fire element, and wind element. Not abiding in the desire realm, not abiding in the form realm, not abiding in the form realm, not abiding in the formless realm, not abiding in this world, not abiding in the other world, and also not abiding in those things that are seen, heard, remembered, cognized, obtained, touched, and realized. When meditating, one should not harm oneself in any way, not harm others, and not harm both. I should seek the fully accomplished wisdom of the Buddha, and be content with not seeking desires for myself. Thereupon, Shariputra, a wise Bodhisattva generates four kinds of turning away. What are the four? Turning away from desire, turning away from craving, turning away from the mind of ingratitude, and turning away from all suffering belonging to actions. These four kinds of turning away arise. Shariputra, even when a Bodhisattva is in a bad rebirth, when he sees a woman with a radiant appearance, he generates four kinds of perceptions. What are the four? Perceiving it as decaying, perceiving it as a precipice, perceiving it as a cesspool, and discerning and perceiving it as pus with the mind. Shariputra, even when a Bodhisattva is in a bad rebirth, when he sees a woman with a radiant appearance, he generates these perceptions.

If four kinds of attention arise, not to mention when one becomes a human, when a son of good family who has entered the Great Vehicle sees a woman with bright colors, he should generate these four kinds of attention: regard her as decaying, regard her as a cliff, regard her as a dung heap, and examine her in detail with wisdom and regard her as pus. If, even after examining in that way, a mind of desire arises, then he should generate three kinds of attention. What are the three? Regard one who is not like a mother as a mother, regard one who is like a sister as a sister, and regard one who is like a daughter as a daughter; these three kinds of attention should be generated. In this way, after Shariputra Bodhisattva has spoken well, understand and conform to the sutras. It is not easy to find a sentient being who has not been my mother or father for a long time, because all sentient beings have been my mother and father, so one should not take one's own mother as a wife, and one should train in this way. All ordinary people abide in disharmony, and I should not abide in disharmony. Even if one practices in that way, if one still follows after the mind of desire, then one should properly apply mindfulness. For example, if a mind of desire arises, what is it that arises from seeing? Or, if desire arises from an object, then one should properly apply mindfulness in this way. If I am attached to the eye, does the eye see the eye? Does nature see nature? What is the reason for that? That is an eye, and this is also an eye. That is also made of the great elements, and that is also born from the great elements. This is also born from the great elements, nature does not cling to nature, and I do not cling to myself either. What is the reason for that? That is as much as this is, and clinging to that and clinging to this are not different, all ordinary people abide without difference. But I think there is a difference. What is the reason for that? For example, such a thought of desire is not a virtue. Then, at that time, the Bhagavan spoke these verses: Mutual things are of one meaning, in that there is no difference, that is holding what is not proper, desire.
