For the sake of the meaning of the Pitaka of the Vinaya, the respect and service to the preceptor have such benefits, and even more surpassing, immeasurable, inconceivable, one will obtain immeasurable benefits. Thus, Shariputra, a Bodhisattva, for the sake of the meaning of the Bodhisattva's Pitaka, the respect and service to the preceptor have such benefits, and even more surpassing, immeasurable, inconceivable, one will obtain immeasurable benefits. Thus, Shariputra, a Bodhisattva who dwells in the Bodhisattva's Pitaka becomes extremely independent. The discipline is completely pure, and one practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva. What is complete purity of discipline? Shariputra, one should understand the complete purity of a Bodhisattva's discipline in ten ways. What are the ten? It is not harming all sentient beings; it is not stealing the property of others; it is abandoning the wives of others; it is not deceiving all sentient beings; it is not speaking divisive words to make the servants of others harmonious; in order to endure harsh words, it is not being rude; by restraining speech, it is abandoning frivolous talk; not being greedy for the enjoyment of others, therefore there is no greed; enduring evil words, therefore abandoning harmful thoughts; not desiring other gods, therefore abandoning wrong views. Shariputra, one should understand the complete purity of a Bodhisattva's discipline in these ten ways. Shariputra, again, one should understand the complete purity of a Bodhisattva's discipline in ten ways. What are the ten? It is not desiring ignorance, therefore it is a non-regressing discipline; it is completely abandoning rebirth in evil realms, therefore it is a flawless discipline; it is not mixed with all defilements, therefore it is not a defiled discipline; it is solely increasing white Dharma, therefore it is an unmixed discipline; it is acting as one wishes, therefore it is an autonomous discipline; it is not blamed by the wise, therefore it is a praised discipline; it is not committing all sins, therefore it is an unblamed discipline; it is guarding the senses, it is an extremely hidden discipline; it is extremely guarded for the sake of mindfulness and awareness.
