Examine in the place. Also measure and fully examine the miraculous power of the Bodhisattva. Having measured and fully examined, it is not seen that the miraculous power of the Bodhisattva is equal or equivalent to that of the Tathagata. Having measured and examined the miraculous power of the Bodhisattva, measure and fully examine the miraculous power of the Tathagata. Having measured and fully examined, it is not seen that the miraculous power of the Tathagata is equal or equivalent to that of the Tathagata, and he thinks in his heart: the miraculous power of the Tathagata is inconceivable. After thinking, in order to fully accomplish the miraculous power of the Tathagata, he strives greatly. Shariputra, regarding the miraculous power of the Tathagata, would you like to hear a brief analogy from the Tathagata? World Honored One, now is the time, Sugata, now is the time. If the World Honored One briefly explains the analogy of the Tathagata's miraculous power to the monks, the monks will hear it from the World Honored One and hold it accordingly. The World Honored One said: Therefore, Shariputra, listen well and keep it carefully in mind, and I will explain. Shariputra replied: World Honored One, so it is. The venerable Shariputra listened to the World Honored One's teachings in this way, and the World Honored One said: Shariputra, what do you think? Is the great venerable Maudgalyayana great in miraculous power? Shariputra replied: World Honored One, I have heard and received directly from the World Honored One that among the Shravakas with great miraculous powers, the great venerable Maudgalyayana is the most supreme. The World Honored One said: Shariputra, if this three-thousand-great-thousand world is filled with Shravakas with great miraculous powers like the great Maudgalyayana, like a sugarcane forest, a reed thicket, a bamboo forest, a sesame field, or a rice field, even if such a gathering of Shravakas displays all their power, diligence, miraculous powers, and the strength of transformations, they would not even come close to one percent, one thousandth, of the Tathagata's transformations.

Even if it were a rain of a billion, a rain of a hundred billion, a rain of a trillion, a rain of a hundred trillion, a rain of a thousand trillion, a rain of a million trillion, even in number, the rain cannot come close. Why is that? Shariputra, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened One, is the supreme among the holy ones of miracles and teachings. Shariputra, if the Tathagata were to place a single white mustard seed on this earth, even if all the power, ability, diligence, might, miracles, and teaching power of the assembly of such Shravakas were displayed, they would not be able to move even a single hair's tip of the white mustard seed placed by the Tathagata. Why is that? Shariputra, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened One, is the supreme among the holy ones who have reached the other shore of miracles. Shariputra, let alone this three-thousand great thousand world realm, Shariputra, in the world realms of the east, as many as the sands of the Ganges River, how many sentient beings there are, and similarly, in the south, west, north, below, above, intermediate directions, and all ten directions, in the world realms as many as the sands of the Ganges River, how many sentient beings are born from eggs or wombs, up to those between non-perception and non-non-perception, if all those sentient beings were fully measured, by a great miracle-working Shravaka, for example, like the great son of Maudgalyayana. Shariputra, even if all such assemblies of Shravakas displayed all their power, ability, all might, miracles, and teaching power, they would not be able to lift even a mustard seed, not even move a hair's tip. Why is that? Shariputra, the Tathagata is the supreme among the holy ones who have reached the other shore of miracles. Shariputra, the Tathagata is known to be so great in miracles, so great in power, and so great in authority. Then again, the Blessed One spoke to the Venerable

Endowed Shariputra, the Blessed One said: Shariputra, have you heard that when the time of the destructive eon comes, a wind called "Universally Destroying" arises? When that wind arises, Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains in this three-thousand great-thousand world realm, and the surrounding mountains, the great surrounding mountains, the four great continents, the eighty thousand subcontinents, the great mountains, and the great oceans are also thrown up to a height of one yojana and completely scattered. He replied: Blessed One, I have heard and held it directly from the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: Shariputra, when the wind of destruction arises, a wind called "Great Universally Destroying" arises. This three-thousand great-thousand world realm, including Mount Sumeru, including the surroundings, including the mountains, including the oceans, is thrown up to a height of a hundred yojanas and completely destroyed. Two hundred yojanas, three hundred yojanas, four hundred yojanas, five hundred yojanas, a thousand yojanas, two thousand yojanas, three thousand yojanas, four thousand yojanas, five thousand yojanas, are also thrown up and completely scattered. Thrown up to countless hundreds of yojanas, countless hundreds of thousands of yojanas, and completely scattered, even their dust is invisible, what to say of mountains and stones? The palaces of the Gods of No Strife are also shaken, destroyed, and completely ruined, even their dust is invisible, what to say of the palaces? It should be widely proclaimed in the same way up to the palaces of the Gods of Tushita, the Gods of Nirmāṇarati, the Maras of Paranirmita-vaśavartin, the Brahmas, the Gods of Clear Light, and the Gods of Merit Increase. Just as the shaking, destruction, and complete ruin of the Gods of No Strife, even the dust of their shaking, destruction, and complete ruin is invisible, what to say of the palaces and halls? Shariputra, even if such a wind arises, it cannot even move the edge of the Tathagata's Dharma robe, what to say of the Dharma robe or the hem of the Dharma robe? Why is that? The Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, has inconceivable miraculous powers and inconceivable conduct.
