The three wheels are completely cut off. What is the complete cutting off of the three wheels? It is not attaching the mind to the past, not letting consciousness chase after the future, and not clinging to what is happening in the present. Because one does not dwell in mind, intellect, or consciousness, one does not discriminate about the past, does not have arrogance about the future, and does not elaborate on the present. This is the equality of the three times, the complete purification of the three wheels. However, sentient beings do not understand this, so they should be made to understand it. Therefore, the Tathagata has great compassion for sentient beings. Shariputra, the Bodhi I attained is manifested as complete enlightenment without a body and without manifest fabrication. This cannot be known from eye consciousness to mind consciousness. Unconditioned knowledge is unborn, fearless, and non-abiding; this is unconditioned knowledge that is free from the three wheels. Just as one understands the unconditioned, so should one understand the conditioned. Why? Because the nature of all dharmas is without substance. What is without substance is non-dual. Without a body and without manifest fabrication, sentient beings do not understand this, so they should be made to understand it. Therefore, the Tathagata has great compassion for sentient beings. Shariputra, the Bodhi I attained is manifested as complete enlightenment in non-differentiation and place. What is non-differentiation? What is place? Thusness is the place, and no place is non-differentiation. The Dharmadhatu is the place, and no difference is non-differentiation. The ultimate reality is the place, and immovability is non-differentiation. Emptiness is the place, and no object of reference is non-differentiation. Signlessness is the place, and non-conceptualization is non-differentiation. Wishlessness is the place, and non-entry is non-differentiation. No sentient being is the place, and the nature of no sentient being is non-differentiation. Space is the place, and non-perception is non-differentiation. Non-arising is the place, and non-cessation is non-differentiation. The unconditioned is the place, and non-wandering is non-differentiation.

Bodhi is a place. Serenity is inseparable. Nirvana is a place. Immutability is inseparable. Thus, Shariputra, sentient beings have not comprehended this state of inseparability, and in order for them to comprehend it, the Tathagata's great compassion arises for sentient beings. Shariputra, Bodhi is not the body's manifest complete enlightenment, nor is it the mind. Why is that? The body is an inanimate object, without movement, without action, like grass, walls, trees, stones, and puppets. The mind is like illusions, mirages, and the moon in water. Whoever comprehends the body and mind in this way, that is called Bodhi. Bodhi is merely a designation, Bodhi is not the body, not the mind, not dharma, not non-dharma, not truth, not untruth, not reality, nor falsehood, nothing can be expressed. Why is that? Bodhi cannot be expressed by all dharmas, because there is not even a little place in Bodhi that can become a verbal designation. Just as the sky is without place and without words, so too Bodhi is without place, inexpressible. Thus, Shariputra, when seeking what is truly as it is, all dharmas are without words, dharma is without words, and words are without dharma. Because they do not know and do not comprehend such water of dharma, in order for them to comprehend it, the Tathagata's great compassion arises for sentient beings. Shariputra, Bodhi is without grasping, without basis. What is without grasping? What is without basis? For example, complete knowledge of the eye is without grasping. Not truly seeing form is without basis. Complete knowledge in the realm of mind is without grasping. Non-perception of dharma is without basis. Thus, Shariputra, the Tathagata has manifestly completely awakened to Bodhi without grasping, without basis. Having manifestly completely awakened, the eye is not grasped, and because form is without basis, consciousness does not abide. Not grasping the mind, and because dharma is without basis, consciousness
