, which is emptiness. This eye is like grass and walls, wood and stone, and like an eyeball, it is an inanimate object. This eye arises with the wheel of wind, and has no function. This eye accumulates impurities and pus. This eye is hollow, always rubbed by servants, destroyed, scattered, and has the nature of destruction. This eye is always oppressed by the pressure of aging, like an old well. This eye will eventually die and will not remain. Householders, just as the eye is, so should the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind be understood. Combine as above and understand all dharmas in this way. Householders, furthermore, this eye and this, the ear, nose, tongue, and body, are merely the desires of all ordinary beings. Thus, this mind is merely the desire of all ordinary beings. Thus, this form and thus, sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharma are merely the desires of all ordinary beings. Thus, householders, this form aggregate is merely the desire of all ordinary beings. Thus, householders, this feeling aggregate is merely the desire of all ordinary beings. Thus, householders, this perception aggregate is merely the desire of all ordinary beings. Thus, householders, this mental formation aggregate is merely the desire of all ordinary beings. Thus, householders, this consciousness aggregate is merely the desire of all ordinary beings. Thus, householders, this earth element is merely the desire of all ordinary beings. Thus, householders, this water element, fire element, and wind element are merely the desires of all ordinary beings. Thus, householders, the conditioned and unconditioned realms, the knowable dharmas, are merely the desires of all ordinary beings. Therefore, householders, do not desire. Having no desire, do not be close to sons and wives.

Do not accept these. If you do not accept them, then with faith, go forth from home to homelessness, taking full ordination. Having taken full ordination with faith from home to homelessness, do not desire. Laypeople, what is the non-desire of the ordained? It is to be restrained by the vows of individual liberation, to have abundant rituals and conduct, to fear even the slightest fault, to properly uphold the basis of learning and study, and to abide in possessing morality. Possessing the aggregate of morality means not accepting the eye, not accepting the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind, not accepting form, not accepting sound, smell, taste, touch, and phenomena, not accepting the aggregate of form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, not accepting the earth element, not accepting the water element, the fire element, the wind element, the space element, and the consciousness element. Laypeople, this is the non-desire of the ordained. Not desiring means not accepting the eye element. Connect as before, until not accepting the mind element. Connect as before. Whatever is not accepted is not completely abandoned. What is not completely abandoned? The eye is not completely abandoned, the ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind are not completely abandoned, form is not completely abandoned, sound, smell, taste, touch, and phenomena are not completely abandoned, the aggregate of form is not completely abandoned, the aggregate of feeling is not completely abandoned, the aggregate of perception is not completely abandoned, the aggregate of formation is not completely abandoned, the aggregate of consciousness is not completely abandoned, the earth element is not completely abandoned, the water element is not completely abandoned, the fire element, the wind element, the space element, and up to the consciousness element are not completely abandoned. Then, what is not abandoned will not be completely defiled. If there is no complete defilement, it will become clear. When it becomes clear, it will become invisible. When it becomes invisible, one will not be angry at anything. When one is not angry at anything, one will not think of harm to oneself, will not think of harm to others, will not think of harm to both. Because one does not think of harm, one will be completely extinguished in the realm of nirvana without remainder.
