I am called the light that dwells nowhere. By what name-holding is the darkness of ignorance abandoned? I am called the light that is weary of the inner body. By what name-holding is that not taken? I am called the light without grasping. By what name-holding are letters, words, and syllables abandoned? I am called the light without delusion. By what name-holding does one become separated from speech? I am called the light without going. By what name-holding does one know the future? I am called the light of all ends. By what name-holding does one know the past? I am called the light without equal. By what name-holding does one realize the uncontaminated? I am called the light that has attained the noble state. By what name-holding does one know the supreme? I am called the light without stain. By what name-holding is manifest attachment abandoned? I am called the light that dispels heat. By what name-holding is there no darkness? I am called the light without craving. By what name-holding is pure dependence abandoned? I am called the light of the supreme king. By what name-holding does one subdue the speech of others? I am called the light that is in its prime. By what name-holding are the six practices accomplished? I am called the light of the most venerable. By what name-holding does knowledge become unimpeded? I am called the light that is swift. By what name-holding is the supreme monk accomplished? Because the practices are performed for many Buddhas. Such light is thus accomplished. The lights that arise from the Buddha's body. The number of dust particles is hundreds of thousands of kotis. Similarly, there are immeasurable kotis of fields. Their number is like the sand of the sea. Even those lights of such a number. Each one also has many retinues. That light, in the Buddha-less lands. Emanating as the pure body of the Tathagata. Because it teaches the very profound Dharma. Causing beings to endure greatly.

Please abide. I am called Light Ray Buddha. May sentient beings abide on the path to Buddhahood. I am called Light Ray Knowing Dharma. Extremely pure, able to manifest, without defilement. I am called Light Ray Sangha. The Tathagatas highly praise. I am called Light Ray Pure. This light ray is excellent, difficult to obtain. I am called Light Ray Lotus. Benefiting sentient beings, causing them to fully mature. I am called Light Ray Brahma. Some are called Indra, or called gods. Also called moon, dragons, and yakshas. Called asuras and garudas. Some are called kings, women. Some are called daughters, some are called boys. Thus, various many light rays, each subduing corresponding fortunate ones with virtuous Dharma. Although the retinue is immeasurable, hundreds of thousands, all are caused to fully mature in Bodhi. I am called Light Ray Wisdom. Some are called discipline, some are called loving-kindness. Some are called compassion, joy, and lamp. Some are called scented ointment, some are called musical instrument sounds. Such and other light rays, in accordance with the habits of the past, the forms of beings are immeasurable, all gathered together, therefore these light rays are complete. I am called Light Ray Principal. The Tathagatas highly praise. Always respecting the teachings of the Buddhas, therefore this light ray is complete. The Buddha, with wisdom eyes, sees the number of sentient beings, from all pores emits various light rays. Each of the many light rays, each is surrounded by many retinues. According to the inclinations of sentient beings, the Buddha emits light rays and causes them to mature. Whoever hears this teaching of light rays, and is extremely joyful and believes in it, this person has heard this sutra from many Buddhas in the past. I have Light Ray Excellent. The retinue is eighty kotis in number. In the past, praising the Buddhas with one verse, therefore this light ray is accomplished. I have Light Ray Without Sorrow. The retinue is eighty trillion in number. Because of holding the Tathagata's teachings, therefore this light ray is accomplished.

It is. I have the most pure rays of light, and there are eighty billion retinue members. Because I have completely mastered one samadhi, this light is accomplished. The Buddha of the past age was named Superior Excellent. That Buddha lived in the world for an immeasurable amount of time. When he first attained enlightenment, the number of retinue members who gathered to hear the Dharma was eighty billion trillion, and they all gathered there. At that time, in each of the great continents of Jambudvipa, the name of the king of the country was Fond of Sound. That great king had five hundred sons, whose appearances were beautiful and pleasing, and those who saw them were delighted. At that time, the king's father, who possessed splendor and independence, developed great joy in the Three Jewels. That king had as many excellent nurseries and gardens as there were, and they all respectfully offered them to the Bhagavan. In those nurseries and gardens, there were many places to stroll, and all those places were filled with champaka trees, banyan trees, kenshuka trees, udumbara trees, palasa trees, shirisha trees, sorrowless trees, and so on. The number of those trees was eighty billion each. Those many trees were the same in summer and winter, and their flowers, fruits, and branches were bright and lush in color, emitting the most excellent pure fragrance, which wafted towards the body of the Tathagata. As many monks as there were, their body color was like gold. All of them sat near those trees and practiced diligently, and as a result, they obtained dharani.
