Sometimes golden thrones and precious canopies, sometimes Se-mo do and rosaries were given away. Likewise, to complete hundreds of thousands of kalpas, for this sutra, there was no stinginess in my mind. Chapter Two I formerly, for the sake of this sutra, perfectly guarded the precepts purely. I constantly meditated on concentration and wisdom, and gave alms to sentient beings. I formerly, for the sake of this sutra, even though blocked in every way by the violent ones, at that time, with loving compassion, did not harm them in any way. I formerly, for the sake of this sutra, to those who came to beg, generously gave according to their wishes, making all very happy. I formerly, for the sake of this sutra, in immeasurable great mansions, adorned with nets of jewels, completely offered to the Buddhas. I formerly, for the sake of this sutra, with various kinds of jewels, and wish-fulfilling precious gems, made offerings to the Buddhas. I formerly, for the sake of this sutra, because I possessed vast learning and good speech, I was very devoted to the Dharma, and had no stinginess towards the home of the spiritual friend. Completely accepted. In the past, for the sake of this sutra, I always diligently practiced patience, and even towards my own wives, I did not generate a miserly heart of attachment. In the past, for the sake of this sutra, in order to allow all impoverished people to obtain happiness, I made them wealthy with possessions. In the past, for the sake of this sutra, I gathered all the renunciates, brahmins, and all kinds of people. In the past, for the sake of this sutra, in order to benefit all people, I always acted as a great patron, giving to beggars. Sometimes, flowers and fruits were not allowed to be picked by others, but were all given to sentient beings, allowing them to be satisfied as they wished. In the past, when I gave alms, my mind was always equanimous, possessing the virtues of discipline, without breaking vows or shame. From the beginning of obtaining great miraculous powers, up to each ordinary person, I generated a mind of wonder and respectfully gave alms to them. In the past, when I gave alms, there was no high or low in my mind, not seeking suffering beings, wholeheartedly believing in this sutra. Sometimes, in various places, I eliminated all the heretics, subdued all the nagas, and caused rain to fall on time. Moonlight, you should know that from countless lifetimes, for the sake of this sutra, I diligently practiced various austerities. Even after hundreds of thousands of kalpas, it cannot be finished. You abide in faith, and in the future degenerate age, generate a mind of correct mindfulness and proclaim this sutra. With the Buddha's wisdom eye, I clearly see the future age, and I completely know all actions. Whichever bhikshu, in order to seek unsurpassed wisdom, with a very pure mind, proclaims this sutra, I completely know that person and his retinue. In the future degenerate age, those who hear this sutra and rejoice, I completely know their thoughts and methods.
