Even just generating a single thought of aspiration, remembering the Tathagata Amitabha, if they also generate the desire, then those people will see the Tathagata Amitabha in their dreams, and they will be born in the Sukhavati world. They will also become irreversible from the unexcelled, perfectly complete enlightenment. Shariputra, seeing the power of those Tathagatas, in the countless, immeasurable realms of the ten directions, they also completely proclaim the name of the Tathagata Amitabha. They also speak praises, and they also proclaim eulogies. Shariputra, from each of the ten directions, bodhisattvas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, in order to behold the Tathagata Amitabha, in order to pay homage, in order to attend and serve, in order to completely inquire, and in order to behold that assembly of bodhisattvas, and in order to behold the excellent qualities of the Buddha-field's virtues and adornments, they aspire to that Buddha-field. Then, at that time, the Bhagavan, in order to extensively explain this meaning, spoke these verses: In order to pay homage to the guide, the Buddha Amitabha, from the Buddha-fields of the east, from the boundless number of Ganges sands, those perfect bodhisattvas come. Those bodhisattvas hold various colored flowers, many fragrant and pleasing flowers, offering to Amitayus, revered by gods and humans, scattering them upon the best of humans. In order to pay homage to the guide, the Buddha Amitabha, likewise from the south, west, and north, from as many Buddha-fields as there are, those perfect bodhisattvas come. Those bodhisattvas hold various colored incense, many fragrant and pleasing incense, offering to Amitayus, revered by gods and humans, scattering them upon the best of humans. Those many bodhisattvas, having made offerings, to the feet of the immeasurable light, having prostrated and circumambulated, said this: The Buddha-field is truly wondrous, beautiful and radiant, with joyful and contented minds to measure. Those bodhisattvas, having scattered flowers, before the eyes of that guide, said this: May our field also become like this. What the teacher has accomplished in a thousand eons, Look at what this dreamlike pure land is like. Light immeasurable, splendor immeasurable, Life immeasurable, sangha invincible, Surrounded by Bodhisattvas, becoming beautiful, Look at the supreme accumulation of merit of the Buddha." Then, Amitayus smiled, Emanating thirty-six billion rays of light, These rays of light emanated from the center of his face, Pervading a billion lands. All these rays of light returned again, Absorbing into the ushnisha of the guide. When the rays of light were absorbed, The gods and humans greatly rejoiced. Then, the renowned son of the Buddha, Avalokiteshvara stood up, "For what reason did the protector of the world smile? Bhagavan, what are the cause and conditions for that? Benefiting many sentient beings, compassionate one, Please prophesy, you wise one of true meaning." Hearing that pleasing supreme speech, sentient beings will become joyful. Many world-realms, Bodhisattvas, Come to this Sukhavati to see the Buddha, Hearing that, they will greatly increase joy, Quickly seeing this pure land. Having arrived at this vast pure land, They will also quickly obtain the divine eye and divine ear, Remembrance of past lives and supreme wisdom, And also the power of miraculous abilities. Buddha Amitayus prophesied: "In the past, I made this aspiration: When sentient beings hear my name, May they always come to my pure land." "My good aspiration has been fulfilled, Therefore, sentient beings come from many world-realms. Having arrived at my pure land, They will not regress, but only experience one lifetime." Therefore, any Bodhisattva here, Also wishes their own pure land to become like this, Also wishes to liberate many sentient beings, Through their own name, sound, and sight.
