From where did you come, feeling exhausted? In the Saha world, you were not struck by the stone of death. The Blessed One said: Maudgalyayana's son, what do you think? Do you think you arrived in this world through the power of your own magical abilities? You should not think that way. Why is that? You arrived in that world through the blessings of the Blessed One Shakyamuni himself, so you should prostrate to that Blessed One. Now he will lead you back again. Maudgalyayana's son, if you were to go to that world through your own magical abilities, you would not be able to arrive even after countless eons. Before arriving in that world, you would completely pass into nirvana in between. Maudgalyayana's son, what do you think? Was it east? South? West? North? Or which direction did you go? He replied: Blessed One, I have lost my way and do not know from where I came here. The Blessed One said: Maudgalyayana's son, you should also understand in this way. If you were to go to that world through the power of your own magical abilities, you would not be able to arrive even after countless eons. He replied: Blessed One, in which direction does the Blessed One Shakyamuni reside? He said: Maudgalyayana's son, the Blessed One Tathagata Shakyamuni resides in the eastern direction. Therefore, the great Venerable Maudgalyayana's son then touched the earth with his five limbs, prostrated towards the east, and at that time spoke this verse: Possessing great power, worshipped by gods and humans, with boundless wisdom, possessing boundless speech. Supreme among bipeds, please listen. I will go to that pure land again. Peaceful wisdom, thus through the power of the Buddha. The Blessed One's retinue, complete with everything, residing on Vulture Peak Mountain, heard the sound of the Venerable Maudgalyayana's son praying. Having heard it, the venerable Ananda said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, who is this who is praying in this way? The Blessed One said: Ananda, this is Maudgalyayana's son. This Buddha-field

From there, towards the west, having passed ninety-nine Ganges' sands of Buddha-fields, in a world called Radiant Banner, in the Buddha-field of the Blessed One, Radiant King Buddha, he desired to come to this world and uttered such a sound of supplication. The Venerable One asked: Blessed One, why is the great Maudgalyayana in such a world? The Buddha replied: Venerable One, Maudgalyayana will come again, and it will be heard here. Then, all the complete retinue, with palms joined, supplicated the Blessed One, saying: Blessed One, we wish to see that world of Radiant Banner, and the Thus-Gone One Radiant King Buddha, and those Bodhisattvas, and the great Venerable Maudgalyayana. Then, the Blessed One, knowing the supplication of the retinue, emitted from the urna hair a ray of light called Following All, and that ray of light passed through ninety-nine Ganges' sands of Buddha-fields, and that world of Radiant Banner was pervaded by great light. There, all the complete retinue saw that world of Radiant Banner, and the Thus-Gone One Radiant King Buddha, and those Bodhisattvas, and the great Venerable Maudgalyayana prostrating with five limbs to the ground, supplicating the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable great Maudgalyayana: Maudgalyayana, follow this mandala of light and come. Then, the great Venerable Maudgalyayana, relying on the Blessed One's mandala of light, with just a mere mental discrimination, arrived in this world of endurance, before the Blessed One Shakyamuni Buddha, and there, with his head he prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One, circumambulated seven times, and then prostrated with five limbs to the ground before the Buddha, and confessed his faults, saying: Blessed One, I wish to realize the mandala of the Thus-Gone One's voice, until that time.

I, being faulty, confess my faults. Oh Blessed One, even if it is long, the speech of the Tathagata is just like this now. The Blessed One said: Great Maudgalyayana's son, what you said is so. The speech of the Tathagata has no limit. Maudgalyayana's son, whoever thinks to seek the limit or end of the Tathagata's speech is like thinking to seek the limit or end of space. Why is that? Because as much as space is, the speech of the Tathagata pervades that much. Great Maudgalyayana's son, when this chapter of going and coming was spoken, hundreds of millions of beings generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Peaceful Wisdom, this is also the secret of the Tathagata's speech. Peaceful Wisdom, what do you think? Which is more, all beings' minds and the appearances arising from the mind? Peaceful Wisdom said: Lord of Secrets, even the mind of one being and the appearances arising from the mind, even if all the beings belonging to the three thousand great thousand worlds became Pratyekabuddhas, they could not think, measure, count, or examine them in an eon, let alone all beings. Vajrapani said: Peaceful Wisdom, you should believe, you should understand. As many as the minds of all beings and the appearances arising from the mind are, in order to satisfy all beings, there are also as many aspects of the speech of the Tathagata teaching the Dharma. To this, the Tathagata is non-discriminating and impartial. Therefore it is said: Whatever beings there are in the three thousand worlds, all of them having become guides of individual liberation, even in an eon, they would not know the realm of the mind of one being. As many thoughts as one being has, although the Buddha knows them perfectly, he will not think, "I know this thought." As many thoughts as all beings of the three times have, when the protector of the world teaches the Dharma, there are that many branches of speech. Lord of Dharma!
