O! Exhaustion, change, and cessation are taught by the Tathagata with terms of names, and one should enter into these terms of names of the Tathagatas' intentions. One should not be attached to virtuous or non-virtuous dharmas, because by being attached to non-virtuous dharmas, one will become attached to non-virtuous dharmas. Because of being attached to non-virtuous dharmas, suffering and unpleasant dharmas arise manifestly. These are designated as the noble truth of suffering, therefore the Tathagata taught the terms of non-virtuous dharmas. Not being attached to virtuous and non-virtuous dharmas, and abandoning craving, these are for abandoning the origin and realizing the two noble truths, therefore the Tathagata taught the terms of virtuous dharmas. For the sake of cessation, for the sake of not having pride, exhaustion, closely examining detachment from desire, not closely taking, manifest joy, absence of perception and feeling, and freedom from pride, these are for realizing the noble truth of the cessation of suffering, therefore the Tathagata taught the terms of the third truth. The ground of realizing the Dharma as it is, and the path of the ground that is completely beyond all pride, agitation, and proliferation, which are those, those are fully sought and from cultivating right view onwards, with the eightfold path in between with right concentration, etc., what is taught, this is for realizing the noble truth of the path that will cease suffering, therefore the Tathagata taught the terms of the four noble truths, this is because the Buddhas, Bhagavan, etc., in order to fully know suffering, abandon the origin, manifest cessation, and cultivate the path, etc., from the terms of suffering, the origin of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the path that will cease suffering, are established, this suffering is not truly existent but merely imputed. Ignorance, etc., are the basis of knowledge, these two are, why is that? Because without consciousness there is no basis at all, therefore it is manifest.

Because there is no realization, no appearance, no knowledge, no belonging, what will it become the basis of? It is the dharma of non-existence, accumulation, falsehood, and deception. That basis is also not truly existent, but is imputed. Because there is no basis for clinging to the appearance of permanence, and no basis for clinging to the appearance of annihilation, one should not cling with arrogance, but should examine the basis of suffering. Thus, for that which has no basis, one should also completely know that there is no manifest knowledge. Suffering, which arises from the activity of ignorance, is by nature unknowable, for ignorance is neither concordant nor discordant with anything, therefore it is not existent, therefore it is not concordant. Therefore, for ignorance, there is no agent to be designated, and because the agent is not visible, there is no thought, no non-thought, no action, no non-action. This boundless array is in accordance with the wisdom of the bodhisattvas, it is the door of completely knowing the self-nature of ignorance. Through it, the darkness of ignorance is dispelled, and the door of dharma that accords with wisdom is manifested, and in order that the bodhisattvas may master and realize the noble truths, these doors should be completely trained and manifested. When one particularly focuses on suffering, the arising will cease, be exhausted, and be extinguished, and thus one should cultivate and meditate on the path of equality, and by acting thus, one should manifest and completely know all those dharmas by means of the various aspects of the path of equality. By manifestation, it is to be abandoned; by manifestation, it is to be made manifest; by manifestation, it is to be cultivated. Therefore, whatever is manifested is completely known. Whatever is completely known is to be abandoned. Whatever is to be abandoned is to be made manifest. Whatever is to be made manifest is taught to be cultivated. Thus, having known the noble dharma, one will abide without taking or rejecting, manifesting the truth without separation from diligence, in a non-discriminating manner. Boundless array, the noble ones have examined all dharmas, cultivated them separately, and cherished them, and one should not understand them with arrogance.
