Not turning back, with respect to the virtuous friend, not completely turning back from a mind of faith and joy, not turning back from looking at the face of the virtuous friend, without timidity in the manner of the virtuous friend's teachings, not being weary of serving and respecting the virtuous friend, such a thing is very rare. Son of good family, have you seen these retinues of mine? He replied, "Noble One, I have seen them." He said, "Son of good family, all of these are those whom I have generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. These are the ones I have established in the lineage of the Thus-Gone One. These are the ones I have gathered and nourished with the perfections. These are the ones I have nurtured with all white dharmas. These are the ones I have developed in the ten powers of the Thus-Gone One. These are the ones I have raised up from the worldly lineages. These are the ones I have placed in the lineage of the Thus-Gone One. These are the ones I have turned back from the wheel of the worldly path. These are the ones I have placed in the turning of the wheel of Dharma. These are the ones I have completely protected from falling into the continuum of the three lower realms. These are the ones I have placed in the understanding of the nature of reality. Son of good family, in that way, Bodhisattvas become the protectors of all sentient beings. Son of good family, I have obtained much merit arising from the treasury of mind, and by the power of that, I give the gift of food to those who desire food. To those who desire drink, I give drink, To those who desire excellent flavors, I give excellent flavors, to those who desire to eat, I give food, to those who desire to chew, I give chewing, to those who desire to lick, I give licking, to those who desire to gnaw, I give gnawing, to those who desire clothes, I give clothes, to those who desire flowers, I give flowers, to those who desire garlands, I give garlands, to those who desire incense, I give incense, to those who desire burning incense, I give burning incense, to those who desire perfume, I give perfume, to those who desire powder, I give powder, to those who desire ornaments and streamers, I give ornaments and streamers, to those who desire jewels, I give jewels, to those who desire gold, I give gold.

As soon as the wise householder spoke those words, in that instant, countless sentient beings, summoned by the wise householder's previous aspirations, from different directions, different regions, different places, different cities, different towns, different markets, different areas, different family villages, different homes, different kinds of sentient beings, different groups of sentient beings, different forms of sentient beings, different kinds of paths, different forms of places, and different names, even to the point of possessing various different forms of sentient beings' birthplaces, seeking various kinds of food, desiring various kinds of food, with various different thoughts, desiring pure food and drink, desiring meat, seeking various kinds of different forms of food.
