The gods were completely satisfied with divine food. The nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, humans, and non-humans were also completely satisfied with non-human food, until their hearts were filled with happiness. However, that which was emitted did not increase, did not decrease, did not become inferior, did not become exhausted, did not have boundaries, did not have an end, did not have a final end. Then, the excellent laywoman said to the merchant's son, Norzang: Son of good family, I only know this liberation of the bodhisattva called the inexhaustible ornament of the treasury of merit. Because the great ocean of merit of the bodhisattva is inexhaustible, possessing inexhaustible merit, accumulating a vast collection of merit, becoming like the sky, able to fulfill the wishes of all beings, like the king of wish-fulfilling jewels, able to completely protect the roots of virtue of all beings, possessing a great circle of merit, scattering jewels like rain from the hands to all beings, becoming a cloud of great merit, opening the door of the city of Dharma, able to directly see the treasure of great merit, able to dispel the darkness of poverty of all beings, becoming a lamp of great merit, who could know those actions or speak of the qualities? There is. There resides a householder named Wise One. Go to him and ask how a Bodhisattva should train in the conduct of a Bodhisattva, and how to diligently practice. Then, the merchant's son Norzang bowed his head to the two feet of the virtuous nun Supreme One, and circumambulated the virtuous nun Supreme One hundreds and thousands of times to the right. He looked at her again and again, and departed from the presence of the virtuous nun Supreme One, still unable to take his eyes off her. Then, the merchant's son Norzang, who had obtained the light of liberation of the inexhaustible ornament of the treasury of merit, remembered that ocean of merit, always gazed at that sky of merit, completely possessed that aggregate of merit, manifestly ascended that mountain of merit, correctly gathered that collection of merit, completely entered that river of merit, he completely flowed from that heretic of merit, he completely purified that mandala of merit, he correctly beheld that treasure of merit, he remembered that conduct of merit, he completely possessed that dharma of merit, he completely purified that lineage of merit. Finally, he arrived at the great city. He desired a virtuous friend, and his mindstream was tamed by gazing at the virtuous friend, his thoughts were blessed by the virtuous friend, he had unobstructed devotion to the virtuous friend, he had tireless diligence in serving the virtuous friend, he possessed all the roots of virtue that depended on the virtuous friend, he possessed all the collections of merit determined by the virtuous friend, he possessed all the skillful means of conduct increased by the virtuous friend, he was skilled in serving the virtuous friend without relying on others, he possessed all the increasing roots of virtue, he possessed all the superior intention of the Bodhisattva that would become pure, he possessed all the increasing powers of the Bodhisattva, he possessed all the roots of virtue that would mature, he correctly
