Son of the lineage, I have attained the liberation of the Bodhisattva, the net of clouds. It was said: What is the realm of the noble Bodhisattva's liberation, the net of clouds? Then, the great god among gods, in front of the merchant's son Norzang, showed heaps of gold as large as mountains, heaps of silver, heaps of beryl, heaps of crystal, heaps of musaragalva, heaps of asmagarbha, heaps of spontaneously appearing jewels, heaps of jewels of immaculate essence, heaps of jewels of various appearances, heaps of jewels manifest in all directions, crest jewels, heaps of crowns, heaps of various jewels of semodo, heaps of armlets, heaps of ear ornaments, heaps of rings, heaps of belts, heaps of anklets, heaps of nets of red pearls, heaps of various jewels, heaps of ornaments for all limbs and branches, heaps of wish-fulfilling king jewels, all flowers, all incense, all fumigation, all garlands, all unguents, all powders, all clothes, all umbrellas, all victory banners, all divine banners, all striking musical instruments, all playing musical instruments, all objects of desire, and countless billions of daughters. He then spoke to the merchant's son Norzang, saying: Son of the lineage, take from these and give much charity, accumulate much merit, make offerings to the Tathagatas, completely gather many sentient beings with objects of generosity, and abide in the perfection of giving. Teach the world about giving, and demonstrate the complete giving that is joyful in giving. Son of the lineage, just as I gather you with forms of provisions, so too, with the intention of giving, and the unbroken stream of intention of immeasurable sentient beings, completely train in giving.

Thus he acts. He also plants roots of virtue in the Buddhas, the Dharma, the Sangha, the Bodhisattvas, and the spiritual friends, and urges them towards unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Noble son, furthermore, I bless those beings who are intoxicated by the joy of desire and are completely attached to worldly pleasures, so that those things become unpleasant. For those who are oppressed by anger, are arrogant, haughty, and boastful, in order to subdue them, I manifest a fierce and repulsive body like a Rakshasa, eating flesh and drinking blood, and in this way, I pacify all their arrogance and conceit. For those beings who are lazy and have lost diligence, I fully reveal the fears of fire, water, kings, thieves, and harm, causing them to become weary, and thus I lead them to engage in diligence. In this way, through these methods, I thoroughly destroy all factors that are contrary to the perfections, accumulate all the collections of perfections, completely liberate them from all the precipitous paths of the mountains of obscurations, and in order to lead them into the unobstructed Dharma, I completely turn them away from all non-virtue, and thus lead them into all perfect virtues. Noble son, I only know this cloud-net liberation of the Bodhisattva, how could I know or describe the conduct and qualities of those who, like the Bodhisattva Lord of Freedom, completely destroy the armies of the Maras of affliction, like water pacify the masses of suffering's fire of all beings, like a heap of fire dry up the water of craving of all beings, like wind scatter the mountains of all clinging attachments, and like a vajra shatter the solid rock of the self-concept? Go, noble son, in this Jambudvipa, near the Bodhi tree (located in present-day Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India) in the heart of Magadha (ancient Indian kingdom), there dwells a goddess of the earth named Firm One, go to her and ask her how a Bodhisattva should train in the conduct of a Bodhisattva, and how to diligently practice. Then, the son of the merchant, Sudhana, with great devotion

Having prostrated with the crown of the head to the deity, having circumambulated the great deity hundreds and thousands of times to the right, having gazed again and again, then departed from the presence of the great deity. Then, the merchant's son Norzang gradually went to Bodh Gaya, the heart of the land of Magadha, to where the earth goddess Sthira was, and as he went, one of the one hundred and eleven thousand earth goddesses whispered to another, saying: One who will become the refuge of all sentient beings will come from here. One who possesses the essence of the Tathāgata, one who will break the shell of the egg of ignorance of all sentient beings, will come from here. One who is born into the family of the Dharma King, one who will attain the sacred position of the Dharma King, who is without attachment and without defilement, will come from here. One who possesses great power of wisdom, a hero with a vajra weapon, one who will completely subdue all the hosts of opposing forces, will come from here. At that very moment, the earth goddesses, led by the goddess Sthira, shook the great earth violently, making a great sound like a deep thunderclap, and the three thousand great thousand worlds were illuminated by great light, their bodies adorned with precious ornaments and all kinds of fluttering garments, appearing just like a multitude of lightning streaks flashing in the sky. The sprouts of all the trees began to grow, all the flowering trees began to blossom, all the streams of rivers began to flow, all the lakes, ponds, and puddles began to swell, rain of scented water poured down, a great wind arose scattering clouds of flowers, hundreds of thousands of billions of cymbals resounded, many divine mansions and collections of ornaments appeared, bulls, herds of cattle, elephants, tigers, and the king of beasts roared, gods, asuras, nagas, and lords of spirits thundered, the great mountain kings collided with each other, hundreds of thousands of billions of treasures manifested and emerged from beneath the earth.
