Having praised him well, he spoke thus: 'Noble sons, look at how this son of a merchant asks me about the conduct and qualities of a Bodhisattva. Patient ones, this son of a merchant is so diligent in initiating effort, so eager to pursue meaning, so devoted to his chosen deity, so steadfast in his superior intention, so unyielding in his diligence, so insatiable with the Buddha's teachings, so eager to seek out excellence, so practicing as if his head were on fire, so desiring to see virtuous friends, so unwearied in attending to and honoring virtuous friends, he seeks out, questions, and attends to all virtuous friends, and having left Manjushri Kumara, from being near the city of Rajagriha, he traveled to all the regions of the south. He questioned one hundred and ten virtuous friends, and finally, with a superior intention free from all weariness, he came to me. Noble sons, in this way, he has rightly entered the Great Vehicle, rightly abides in the Great Deity, possesses a mind that is extremely sharp towards great aims, possesses the majesty of being armored with great compassion, possesses the wisdom to completely protect all beings with great love, is extremely diligent in the perfection of great diligence, is manifestly diligent in completely accomplishing the companionship of many sentient beings, has entered to liberate sentient beings from the great ocean of samsara, has entered the great path of omniscience, is diligent in rightly arranging the great ship of Dharma, is extremely sharp in completely accumulating the great Dharma and the jewel of merit, and in accumulating the assembly of great Dharma offerings. It is very rare to hear the names of these diligent ones, or to see their physical bodies, or to associate in their sphere of activity, or to have the same conduct and destiny.' What is the reason for this? Noble son, this excellent man has appeared for the purpose of completely saving all beings, and for completely liberating all sentient beings from suffering.
