It exists within the virtuous friend. The enlightenment of all Buddhas is attained by serving the virtuous friend. All the conduct of Bodhisattvas is embraced by the virtuous friend. All the words praising the qualities of Bodhisattvas are taught by the virtuous friend. All the ways in which Bodhisattvas follow the Dharma are fully taught by the virtuous friend. The great nature of the mind and superior intention of Bodhisattvas is truly spoken by the virtuous friend. The power of great love of all Bodhisattvas arises from the virtuous friend. The power of great compassion of all Bodhisattvas is generated by the virtuous friend. All the powers of Bodhisattvas are embraced by the virtuous friend. All the limbs of Bodhisattvas are generated by the virtuous friend. All the benefits closely attained by Bodhisattvas arise from the virtuous friend. Son of the lineage, Bodhisattvas who are truly held by the virtuous friend will not fall into the lower realms. Bodhisattvas who are embraced by the virtuous friend will not turn back from the Great Vehicle. Bodhisattvas who are fully contemplated by the virtuous friend will not act contrary to the precepts of Bodhisattvas. Bodhisattvas who are extremely protected by the virtuous friend will not fall into the hands of evil friends. Bodhisattvas who are fully protected by the virtuous friend will not degenerate from the Dharma of Bodhisattvas. Bodhisattvas who are truly held by the virtuous friend will completely transcend the ground of ordinary beings. Bodhisattvas who are fully protected by the virtuous friend will not enter without fault into the state of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Bodhisattvas who are protected by the virtuous friend are manifestly superior to the world. Bodhisattvas who are truly generated by the virtuous friend are the Dharma of the world.

如同大地不嫌弃任何事物一样。亲近承侍善知识的菩萨们，对于一切行为都不会错谬地行持。依止善知识的菩萨们，对于一切事业都不会退转。被善知识摄受的菩萨们，难以被业和烦恼所胜伏。依靠善知识的力量而稳固的菩萨们，不会被一切魔所胜伏。安住于善知识之所依的菩萨们，会以一切菩提分而增长。那是什么缘故呢？ 善男子，善知识能从一切能遮蔽的法中清净。善知识能从罪恶中回遮。善知识能使通达不应作之事。能从放逸之处如实回遮。能遣除无明的黑暗。能斩断见解的束缚。能从轮回的城市中解脱。能使舍弃世间的处所。能从魔的罗网中解脱。能拔出痛苦的毒箭。能从无知的黑暗中解脱。能从见解的忧恼中完全止息。能从有之河流中度脱。能从欲望的泥潭中拔出。能从不适宜的道路中回遮。能如实显示菩萨之道。能依止菩萨的本尊。能安置于精进。能善妙显示趋向一切智智之道。能清净智慧之眼。能使菩提心增长。能如实生起大悲心。能完全显示行为。能善妙显示波罗蜜多的教言。能善妙地安置于地。能辨别安忍。能成办一切善根。能生起一切资粮。能增长一切菩萨的功德。能使前往一切佛的足下。能完全显示一切功德。能使如实地领受一切意义。精进。

Just as the earth does not discriminate against anything. Bodhisattvas who attend to and serve virtuous friends do not act mistakenly in all their actions. Bodhisattvas who rely on virtuous friends do not regress from all undertakings. Bodhisattvas who are embraced by virtuous friends are difficult to be overcome by karma and afflictions. Bodhisattvas who are steadfast through the power of virtuous friends cannot be overcome by all demons. Bodhisattvas who abide in the reliance on virtuous friends increase through all the limbs of enlightenment. Why is that? Sons of good family, virtuous friends purify from all obscuring dharmas. Virtuous friends turn away from evil deeds. Virtuous friends enable one to understand what should not be done. They truly turn away from the place of heedlessness. They dispel the darkness of ignorance. They cut the bonds of views. They liberate from the city of samsara. They cause one to abandon worldly places. They liberate from the net of Mara. They extract the thorn of suffering. They liberate from the darkness of unknowing. They completely pacify the sorrow of views. They liberate from the river of existence. They extract from the mire of desire. They turn away from the unsuitable path. They truly show the path of the Bodhisattva. They rely on the deity of the Bodhisattva. They establish in diligence. They excellently show the path to the state of omniscience. They purify the eye of wisdom. They cause the mind of enlightenment to increase. They truly generate great compassion. They completely show the conduct. They excellently show the instructions of the perfections. They excellently establish on the ground. They distinguish patience. They accomplish all roots of virtue. They generate all accumulations. They increase all the qualities of the Bodhisattva. They cause one to go to the feet of all Buddhas. They completely show all qualities. 是赞叹的对境。是显现生起之门的对境。是完全守护不入歧途的对境。是使正法显现之门得以显现的对境。是使正法之门得以明显滋润的对境。是降下应闻正法之云雨的对境。是使一切烦恼寂静的对境。是从一切见解之相中解脱的对境。是安住于一切佛法中的对境。如是，善男子，善知识犹如生于佛陀种姓的母亲。善知识犹如成办广大饶益的父亲。善知识犹如守护一切罪恶的母亲。善知识犹如使菩萨学处融会贯通的导师。善知识犹如引入到彼岸之路的向导。善知识犹如从烦恼疾病中解脱的医生。善知识犹如使智慧之药得以增长的雪山。善知识犹如从一切怖畏中守护的勇士。善知识犹如从轮回大河中救度的船夫。善知识犹如引向一切智智智慧宝洲的舵手。种姓之子，因此，如是不间断地作意，您应当亲近善知识。为了以恭敬承担一切重负而不疲倦，应具有如大地般的心；为了不可分离，应具有如金刚般的心；为了不被一切痛苦所动摇，应具有如轮围山般的心；为了随心所欲地听从教诲，应具有如仆人般的心；为了不违背一切言语，应具有如弟子般的心；为了不轻蔑修持一切事业，应具有如世间奴仆般的心；为了不被一切烦恼所厌倦，应具有如母亲般的心；为了和谐地接受一切所作所为，应具有如佣人般的心；为了舍弃我慢和高慢，应具有如扫帚般的心；为了随时随地高低变化，应具有如满月般的心；为了完全舍弃一切不驯服，应具有如良马般的心。

is the object of praise. It is the object that reveals the door of arising. It is the object that completely protects from going astray. It is the object that makes the door of Dharma appear. It is the object that makes the door of Dharma manifestly moist. It is the object that pours down the rain of clouds to be heard of Dharma. It is the object that pacifies all afflictions. It is the object that liberates from all aspects of views. It is the object that abides in all the Buddhadharma. Thus, son of good family, the spiritual friend is like a mother born into the lineage of the Buddha. The spiritual friend is like a father who accomplishes great benefit. The spiritual friend is like a mother who protects from all evils. The spiritual friend is like a teacher who makes the bodhisattva's training thoroughly understood. The spiritual friend is like a guide who leads to the path of the other shore. The spiritual friend is like a doctor who liberates from the disease of afflictions.
