Pa. To truly observe the boundless, to fully ripen limitless sentient beings, to comprehend taming, to truly observe, to truly observe sentient beings, directions, and times, as well as the various forms of names that are boundless and limitless. To manifest virtuous friends, gradually seeking places, he went to where the Brahmin King's Heat abode. At that time, the Brahmin King's Heat abode, having made the attainment of omniscience its foundation, practiced intense asceticism. From its four directions, piles of fire as large as Mount Meru blazed, and the path of extremely high cliffs appeared to be lined with razors. Then, the merchant's son, Norzang, bowed his head to the feet of the Brahmin King's Heat abode, sat before him, joined his palms, and spoke thus: "Holy one, I have generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. However, I do not know how a Bodhisattva practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva, nor how to diligently strive. I have heard that the Holy One gives instructions and guidance to Bodhisattvas. Therefore, I beseech the Holy One to explain to me how a Bodhisattva should train in the conduct of a Bodhisattva, and how to diligently strive." He replied, "Son of good family, go and climb this mountain of razor edges and fences, and jump into this pit of fire. By doing so, your Bodhisattva conduct will be completely purified." Then, the merchant's son, Norzang, thought to himself: "To be freed from the eight unfavorable conditions is also extremely rare. To be born as a human, possessing leisure and perfection, and to be pure is also extremely rare. The appearance of a Buddha is also extremely rare. To have faculties undamaged is also extremely rare. To hear the Dharma of the Buddha is also extremely rare. To meet a holy person is also extremely rare. A true virtuous friend is also extremely rare. To be skillfully guided by correct teachings is also extremely rare. To live righteously is also extremely rare. In the human world, there is great emphasis on the Dharma and the pursuit of the Dharma."
