Dwelling in the sky, they played melodious songs with divine instruments, made offerings, and uttered these words: "Noble son, when this noble one was completely tormented by the five austerities, a light similar to this arose from this fire, and that light purified our immeasurable palaces, becoming clear and exceedingly radiant. These ornaments and these goddesses also became pure, clear, and exceedingly radiant. Therefore, we, who are with the retinue of gods and goddesses, do not feel joy in desire. Because we do not rejoice in the pleasure of desire, our bodies and minds are satisfied, so we come before this noble one. This noble one teaches the Dharma in order to purify the minds of those of us who have come. In order to make the light of the mind sufficient, to make the mind exceedingly pure, to make the mind workable, to fully generate the joy of the mind, to purify the attainment of the wisdom of the ten powers, to fully increase the great power of the Dharma, to purify the body in order to manifestly accomplish the immeasurable body of the Buddha, to purify speech in order to obtain the speech of the Thus-Gone One, and to purify the mind in order to thoroughly attain omniscience, he teaches the Dharma." The king of the gods of Tushita, with a retinue of ten thousand gods and goddesses, also dwelt in the sky above, offering clouds of rain of various incense powders, and after prostrating, uttered these words: "Noble son, when this noble one was completely tormented by the five austerities, we also felt no joy in our respective abodes. Because we were so unhappy, we came here. In order to make us who have come without attachment to all places, this noble one teaches the Dharma. In order to make the mind content, to properly generate the roots of virtue, and to thoroughly attain the generation of the mind of enlightenment, and to perfect all the Buddhadharmas, he teaches the Dharma."
