Diligently applying oneself to the Dharma without laziness, Bodhisattvas with great diligence enter the Great Vehicle and should learn from others. Thus, diligently applying oneself to the Dharma, diligently applying oneself to the Dharma in order to abandon wrong views through proper practice, diligently applying oneself to the Dharma in order to destroy all demonic actions and afflictions, and after becoming a Buddha, teaching the Dharma by knowing the superior, middling, and inferior faculties of all sentient beings. Thus, diligently applying oneself to the Dharma, diligently applying oneself to the Dharma in order to completely subdue the mind, because the mind is the realm of Dharma, without beginning, end, or middle, vast and extensive. O sons of the Buddhas, these ten are the Dharma diligence of the Bodhisattvas. By abiding in these, the Bodhisattvas will obtain the unsurpassed diligence of the Tathagatas. O sons of the Buddhas, these ten are the demons of the Bodhisattvas. What are the ten? They are as follows: Because of manifest attachment, there is the demon of the aggregates; because of becoming an opportunity, there is the demon of afflictions; because of obscuration, there is the demon of karma; because of solicitation, there is the demon of the mind; because of causing separation from birth, there is the demon of sensual pleasures; because of agitation, arrogance, change, and recklessness, there is the demon of the sons of the gods; because of attachment to this, there is the demon of the roots of virtue; because of causing one to experience taste, there is the demon of meditative stabilization; because of being an illusion, there is the demon of spiritual friends; and because of not fulfilling aspirations, there is the demon of penetrating the wisdom of the Dharma. O sons of the Buddhas, these ten are the demons of the Bodhisattvas. In order to completely abandon these, Bodhisattvas should strive. O sons of the Buddhas, these ten are the actions of the demons of the Bodhisattvas. What are the ten? They are as follows: All roots of virtue that cause the mind of enlightenment to decline are the actions of demons. Giving charity without the decline of the mind of enlightenment, disturbances in moral discipline, completely abandoning malice, completely abandoning laziness, despising those with disturbed minds, and slandering those with inferior wisdom are the actions of demons. The Dharma being concealed by the teacher, the Dharma
