Endowed with these eyes, Bodhisattvas will obtain the unsurpassed eye of the Tathagata's great wisdom. Sons of the Victorious Ones, these ten are the ears of Bodhisattvas. What are the ten? Thus, upon hearing praise, abandoning joy; upon hearing unpleasant words, abandoning anger; upon hearing the words of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, being without desire and not slandering; upon hearing the words of the arising of Bodhisattvas, generating great joy, faith, and delight; upon hearing of sentient beings in hells, the birth places of animals, the realm of Yama, pretas, asuras, unfavorable circumstances, and being born poor, donning the armor of great compassion; upon hearing the distinctions of the lineages of gods and humans, constantly transforming into a mind that grasps the Dharma; upon hearing the qualities and praises of the Buddha, striving to perfect those qualities and praises; upon hearing the perfections, the objects of gathering, and the words of the Bodhisattva's treasury, going beyond all. Sons of the Victorious Ones, the ear faculty of Bodhisattvas will hear and perceive all sounds proclaimed from the ten directions of the world, and will comprehend and know all sounds as being like echoes, of inexpressible meaning. Sons of the Victorious Ones, Bodhisattvas abide in the equipoise of the Dharma-ear, and from the initial generation of the mind until the essence of enlightenment, they do not abandon the path of the Bodhisattva, nor do they abandon maturing sentient beings. Sons of the Victorious Ones, these ten are the ears of Bodhisattvas. Abiding in these, Bodhisattvas will obtain the unsurpassed ear of the Tathagata's great wisdom. Sons of the Victorious Ones, these ten are the noses of Bodhisattvas. What are the ten? Thus, abiding unpleasantly in pleasant smells; abiding pleasantly in unpleasant smells; abiding equally in pleasant and unpleasant smells; abiding indifferently in smells that are neither pleasant nor unpleasant; regarding clothes, bedding, limbs, and parts
