What is the practice of asceticism? What is it to go to the essence of enlightenment? What is it to abide in the essence of enlightenment? What are the rare and wonderful dharmas of those who abide in the essence of enlightenment? What is it to show the subduing of the maras? What is it for the Tathagata's power to manifestly and completely awaken? What is it to turn the wheel of Dharma excellently? What is the aspect of the white Dharma of turning the wheel of Dharma excellently? O sons of the Victorious One, what is it to show the great complete Nirvana of the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the perfectly complete Buddhas? Having spoken thus, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Samantabhadra, facing the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Mahamati, spoke to all those Bodhisattva assemblies: O sons of the Victorious One, these ten are the common causes of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, what are the ten? Thus, in order not to waste, it is the common cause of the mind of enlightenment; in order to make the lineage one, it is the common cause of the spiritual friend; in order to accumulate greatly, it is the common cause of the roots of virtue; in order to be diligent, it is the common cause of the perfections; in order to arise, it is the common cause of all dharmas; in order for enlightenment to be stable, it is the common cause of aspiration; in order to accumulate greatly and perfectly, it is the common cause of conduct; in order to become one, it is the common cause with all Bodhisattvas; in order for the mind to be very pleased, it is the common cause of offering to the Buddhas; in order to speak like a father, it is the common cause with all the Tathagatas. O sons of the Victorious One, these ten are the common causes of the Bodhisattvas, abiding in them, the Bodhisattvas will obtain the unsurpassed great wisdom of the Tathagatas. 对于一切事物，要理解为没有愿望；对于一切法，要理解为生起；对于一切行为，要理解为没有行为；对于一切法，要理解为是佛法；对于一切言语行为，要理解为没有言语之道；对于一切佛，要理解为彼岸；对于一切如来，要理解为无二。 嘿，诸位佛子！ 这十种是菩萨们的奇妙理解。安住于这些理解，菩萨们将获得无上的理解转变之精通。嘿，诸位佛子！这十种是菩萨们的行为。哪十种呢？ 如此，为了使一切众生完全成熟而行，为了完全寻求一切法而行，为了认真修行一切学处而行，为了积聚一切善根而行，为了使禅定专注一境而行，为了完全了解智慧而行，为了完全修习禅修而行，为了庄严佛土而行，为了侍奉善知识而行，为了供养和服侍如来而行。嘿，诸位佛子！这十种是菩萨们的行为。安住于这些行为，菩萨们将获得圆满无上的如来大智慧之行。嘿，诸位佛子！这十种是菩萨们的善知识。哪十种呢？ 如此，是引导趋入菩提心的善知识，是引导结合善根的善知识，是引导进入波罗蜜多的善知识，是宣说一切法的善知识，是引导使一切众生完全成熟的善知识，是使自信无疑的善知识，是使一切众生提升境界的善知识，是使安住于一切劫且不疲倦的善知识，

To perceive all things as without aspiration; to perceive all dharmas as arising; to perceive all actions as without action; to perceive all dharmas as the Buddha's dharma; to perceive all verbal actions as without a path of speech; to perceive all Buddhas as the other shore; to perceive all Tathagatas as non-dual. O sons of the Victorious Ones! These ten are the wondrous perceptions of the Bodhisattvas. Abiding in these, the Bodhisattvas will attain the unsurpassed mastery of the transformation of perceptions. O sons of the Victorious Ones! These ten are the practices of the Bodhisattvas. What ten? Thus, to practice for the sake of fully maturing all sentient beings; to practice for the sake of fully seeking all dharmas; to practice for the sake of diligently cultivating all trainings; to practice for the sake of accumulating all roots of virtue; to practice for the sake of making samadhi one-pointed; to practice for the sake of fully understanding wisdom; to practice for the sake of fully cultivating meditation; to practice for the sake of adorning the fields; to practice for the sake of attending to virtuous friends; to practice for the sake of worshiping and serving the Tathagata. O sons of the Victorious Ones! These ten are the practices of the Bodhisattvas. Abiding in these, the Bodhisattvas will attain the complete and unsurpassed practice of the great wisdom of the Tathagata. O sons of the Victorious Ones! These ten are the virtuous friends of the Bodhisattvas. What ten? Thus, the virtuous friend who guides one to enter the mind of enlightenment; the virtuous friend who connects one with the roots of virtue; the virtuous friend who leads one to enter the perfections; the virtuous friend who teaches all dharmas; the virtuous friend who guides one to fully mature all sentient beings; the virtuous friend who makes one's confidence unwavering; the virtuous friend who elevates all beings to a higher state; the virtuous friend who enables one to abide in all eons without weariness;

全贤行善友，趣入诸佛智，能令降临善友。诸佛子，此乃菩萨之善友。诸佛子，此乃菩萨之精进。何为十？如是思惟：当令一切有情界圆满成熟，而作精进；当摄持一切法，而作精进；当令一切世界圆满清净，而作精进；当知晓一切菩萨之学处，而作精进；当令一切有情之罪业穷尽，而作精进；当断绝有情地狱、旁生之生处及阎罗世界之诸苦，而作精进；当战胜一切魔，而作精进；当令一切有情无有争端，而作精进；当供养一切佛，而作精进；当令一切如来欢喜，而作精进。诸佛子，此乃菩萨之精进。安住于彼等，菩萨等将获得如来之无上正等觉精进波罗蜜多。诸佛子，此乃菩萨等获得之出息。何为十？如是，我安住于菩提心，今后亦将令他者安住于菩提心，如是则极善获得出息。我已趋入于世间一切诤论皆无诤论之处，今后亦当令他者安住于无诤论之喜乐。如是获得出息。我已超胜孩童之法，今后亦当令他人从孩童之法中超脱，而安住于佛法。如是获得出息。

The virtuous friend who thoroughly applies the conduct of Samantabhadra, and the virtuous friend who causes one to enter and descend into the wisdom of all Buddhas. O sons of the Victorious Ones, these ten are the virtuous friends of the Bodhisattvas. O sons of the Victorious Ones, these ten are the endeavors of the Bodhisattvas. What are the ten? They are: thinking, "I shall fully ripen all realms of sentient beings," and making effort; thinking, "I shall grasp all dharmas," and making effort; thinking, "I shall fully purify all realms of the world," and making effort; thinking, "I shall know all the trainings of the Bodhisattvas," and making effort; thinking, "I shall exhaust the misdeeds of all sentient beings," and making effort; thinking, "I shall cut off the suffering of all sentient beings in hell, the realm of animals, and the world of Yama," and making effort; thinking, "I shall conquer all demons," and making effort; thinking, "I shall make all sentient beings free from strife," and making effort; thinking, "I shall make offerings to all Buddhas," and making effort; thinking, "I shall please all the Tathagatas," and making effort. O sons of the Victorious Ones, these ten are the endeavors of the Bodhisattvas. By abiding in these, the Bodhisattvas will obtain the unsurpassed, perfectly complete, and correct perfection of the Tathagata's endeavor. O sons of the Victorious Ones, these ten are the attainment of exhalation by the Bodhisattvas. What are the ten? They are: "I abide in the mind of enlightenment, and I shall also establish others in the mind of enlightenment," thus, the exhalation is excellently attained. "I am inclined towards the absence of all disputes in the world, and I shall also establish others in the joy of non-dispute," thus, the exhalation is attained. "I have transcended the dharma of children, and I shall also lead others beyond the dharma of children and establish them in the dharma of the Buddhas," thus, the exhalation is attained.
