All the abodes of sentient beings who dwell in form and the abodes of sentient beings who dwell in desire, as many as there are, all abide in the sky and arise from the sphere of the sky. Why is that? Because the sphere of the sky pervades everything. Although there is no harm or discomfort to the sky, it is also included in the number of those who accomplish the three realms. O son of the Victorious One, likewise, in all the countless realms of the ten directions, whatever wisdom of the hearers, or wisdom of the self-enlightened ones, or wisdom of the bodhisattvas, or wisdom that engages in the conditioned, or wisdom that engages in the unconditioned, as many as there are, all of them abide in the sky of the Tathagata's wisdom, and arise from the sky of the Tathagata's wisdom. Why is that? Because the sphere of the Tathagata's wisdom pervades everything. Although there is no harm or discomfort to the Tathagata's wisdom, there are also various kinds of perfect accomplishment of wisdom. O son of the Victorious One, by means of this sixth door of comprehension, bodhisattvas, great beings, also comprehend the mind-birth of the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the perfectly complete Buddhas. O son of the Victorious One, furthermore, for example, on the summit of the king of mountains, the one endowed with snow, there is a king of medicines called 'the root unformed'. It penetrates six hundred and eighty hundred thousand yojanas from the depths of the base of the water mass of the vajra sphere beneath the great earth, and arises upwards, so its root is extremely stable. From the light of the root of that king of medicines, the roots of all the trees that exist in Jambudvipa are formed, and the light of the trunk causes the trunk to be formed. The light of the branches causes the branches to be formed. The light of the leaves causes the leaves to be formed. The light of the flowers causes the flowers to be formed. The light of the fruits causes the fruits to be formed. From the root of that great king of medicines, the essence is accomplished. From the essence, the root is accomplished. Why is that? It is called 'the root unformed', the king of medicines.

It is not born in two places. What are the two? Thus, sentient beings are not born in the hells, nor are they born from a mass of water. It is not born from these two, but it is not entirely without the nature of being born. Thus, as much as the circumference of the earth is level and opportune, there is the nature of the great king of medicine being born. O son of the Victorious One, likewise, the wisdom of the Tathagata, the great king of medicine, whose root is not established, but by the previous superior intention and great compassion, its root is firmly born, without a place for the root to dwell, born into the lineage of all Tathagatas, by all the roots of virtue of the three times, the tree of wisdom is also perfectly accomplished, pervading all the worlds without exception with roots of virtue, transforming all the bad destinies, born with the aspect of virtue, possessing a trunk that is skillful in means, firm, solid, and unmoving, with branches filling the vast realm of Dharma with the perfections, possessing leaves that completely cover meditation, liberation, samadhi, and equipoise, possessing flowers of dharani, eloquence, and the limbs of enlightenment that are exceedingly abundant, possessing the fruit of the liberation of omniscience, free from conceptualization. O son of the Victorious One, the wisdom of the Tathagata, the great king of medicine, is called "root not established." Why is it called "root not established"? Because it is extremely uninterrupted, and the mandala of the conduct of the Bodhisattva is also uninterrupted, and also from the conduct of the Bodhisattva, it transforms into the Tathagata, and also from the Tathagata, the conduct of the Bodhisattva arises, therefore it is called "root not established." O son of the Victorious One, the wisdom of the Tathagata, the great king of medicine, from the light of its root, all Bodhisattvas hold the root of great compassion that does not abandon all beings. From the light of the trunk, it holds the trunk of diligence, superior intention, and skillful means. From the light of the branches, it holds the branches of the perfections. From the light of the leaves, it holds the discipline, the trainings, the qualities of practice, and all the vows.
