It remains in an intermediate state, and also causes the stream of existence to exist elsewhere, and also produces the cause for the manifestation of birth. Birth is also close to two functions: It also causes the aggregates to arise, and also produces the cause for the manifestation of aging. Aging is also close to two functions: it also causes the faculties to completely change, and also produces the cause that leads to death. Death is also close to two functions: it also causes formations to disintegrate, and also produces the cause for the continuous flow of complete ignorance. Therefore, with ignorance as the condition, there are formations. This is called with ignorance as the condition, the formations are continuous and dependent. With formations as the condition, there is consciousness. This is called with formations as the condition, consciousness is continuous and dependent. With consciousness as the condition, there is name and form, this is called with consciousness as the condition, name and form are continuous and dependent. Cessation. That is, because the cause of actions has ceased, consciousness is pacified and without reliance. Because consciousness has ceased, name and form cease. That is, because the cause of consciousness has ceased, name and form are pacified and without reliance. Because name and form have ceased, the six sense sources cease. That is, because the cause of name and form has ceased, the six sense sources are pacified and without reliance. Because the six sense sources have ceased, contact ceases. That is, because the cause of the six sense sources has ceased, contact is pacified and without reliance. Because contact has ceased, feeling ceases. That is, because the cause of contact has ceased, feeling is pacified and without reliance. Because feeling has ceased, craving ceases. That is, because the cause of grasping has ceased, becoming is pacified and without reliance. Because becoming has ceased, birth ceases. That is, because the cause of becoming has ceased, birth is pacified and without reliance. Because birth has ceased, aging and death cease. That is, because the cause of birth has ceased, aging and death are pacified and without reliance. In this case, ignorance, becoming, and grasping are the uninterrupted stream of the path of afflictions. Actions and becoming are the uninterrupted stream of the path of karma. The remaining branches are the uninterrupted stream of the path of suffering. Because of perfect discrimination, the prior and posterior limits cease, so the stream of the path is uninterrupted. Thus, these three paths are selfless and arise and cease without self and what belongs to self, their nature like a spear sheath. Thus, actions are conditioned by ignorance, this is said to be looking at the prior limit. Consciousness, name and form, the six sense sources, contact, and feeling, these are said to be looking at what arises in the present. Craving, grasping, becoming, and what is called birth, this is said to be looking at the posterior limit, and from then on, these also constantly arise. Because ignorance ceases,
