Thinking of benefiting and bringing happiness to beings, you have excellently revealed the clear light. Now and forever, gods and humans worship you, skilled in articulating the wisdom of the Dharma. Please explain the conduct of these beings, just as they are, and describe the three pure lands. The great sage's practice of giving, as well as patience, diligence, peace, wisdom, and skillful means. The supreme of loving-kindness and the path of compassion, please teach and demonstrate the practices of the Bodhisattvas. In the fearless Vajra Essence, the Liberated Moon speaks again, please, wise ones, explain the thoughts that truly increase and decrease in the three. The Bodhisattva Mahasattva Vajragarbha said: O sons of the Victorious Ones! Thus, when a Bodhisattva has thoroughly trained his mind on the second bhumi, he completely overcomes the third bhumi. He completely overcomes it with ten mental applications of the mind. What are the ten? They are: the mental application of a pure mind, the mental application of an unwavering mind, the mental application of a mind of weariness, the mental application of a mind free from attachment, the mental application of a non-returning mind, the mental application of a steadfast mind, the mental application of a tamed mind, the mental application of a mind free from pride, the mental application of a vast mind, and the mental application of a great self-mastery mind. O sons of the Victorious Ones! When a Bodhisattva abides on the third bhumi of a Bodhisattva, he thoroughly understands that all aspects of conditioned phenomena are impermanent, just as they are in reality. Suffering, selfless, impure, unreliable, utterly terrifying, not lasting long, arising and ceasing in an instant, not exhausting, not being born, not ceasing, the former limit not having arisen from anywhere, the latter limit having no change, and the present arising not abiding, he thoroughly understands. When he thoroughly understands such aspects of conditioned phenomena, there is manifest destruction, those who are sorrowful, those who wail and lament, those who are in conflict, those who are pleasing, those who are bound by the displeasing, and an accumulation of much suffering and discomfort.

Arising from... the flames of desire, hatred, and ignorance blazing fiercely, manifested by various diseases, seeing the nature as illusory, therefore even more so elevating the mind from all formations, fully bestowing upon the wisdom of the Tathagata, thereby also seeing the inconceivable wisdom of the Tathagata, the unequaled, the immeasurable, the difficult to obtain, the unmixed, the harmless, the undisturbed, going to the fearless city, the irreversible, and also truly seeing the complete salvation of many beings. Having seen the immeasurable wisdom of the Tathagata in this way, and having seen the nature of formations tormented by so many sufferings, therefore even more so focusing on the ten thoughts of the mind for all sentient beings. What are the ten? They are: the thought of the mind without a protector, without refuge, and without support; the thought of the mind that is constantly decaying; the thought of the mind with the fire of desire, hatred, and ignorance burning everywhere; the thought of the mind bound by the prison of existence; the thought of the mind constantly obscured by the dense darkness of afflictions; the thought of the mind without the power to examine; the thought of the mind without faith in virtuous Dharma; the thought of the mind that is greatly estranged from all the Buddha's teachings; the thought of the mind that follows the stream of samsara; and the thought of the mind frightened by the path of liberation. These ten thoughts of the mind are to be carefully considered. Then, having seen the realm of sentient beings afflicted by so many sufferings, one initiates such diligence: These sentient beings are those whom I must protect, liberate, purify, utterly subdue, utterly establish, completely satisfy, lead to the other shore, tame, and completely lead to nirvana. After that, he becomes disgusted with all aspects of formations, and then deeply observes all sentient beings, as well as all...

Following the wisdom, relying completely on the wisdom of the Tathagata, striving to protect all sentient beings, he completely contemplates in this way: By what cause, basis, manner, and method can these sentient beings who have fallen into suffering and near afflictions be liberated? And by what cause, basis, manner, and method can they be established in the supremely blissful Nirvana? Therefore, the Bodhisattva thinks thus: Except for the unobstructed wisdom of liberation, nothing else can do it. And this unobstructed wisdom of liberation cannot be attained unless one understands all dharmas as they truly are. Understanding all dharmas as they truly are cannot be achieved except through the wisdom that acts on the unconditioned and unborn. The light of wisdom cannot be obtained unless one is skilled in meditation and contemplates well with an awakened mind. Skill in meditation and contemplating well with an awakened mind cannot arise unless one is learned through hearing. Thus, possessing such wisdom of thorough examination, he strives even more diligently to seek the supreme Dharma, diligently listening to the Dharma day and night. For the sake of seeking the Buddha's Dharma, he is interested in the Dharma, never satisfied, and continuous. He loves and enjoys the Dharma, and is completely immersed in the Dharma. He is focused on the Dharma, inclines towards the Dharma, and is absorbed in the Dharma. He relies on the Dharma, seeks refuge in the Dharma, and seeks the power of the Dharma. He is diligent in the Dharma and in matters related to the Dharma. Thus, because he is diligent in seeking the Dharma, there is no precious jewel, wealth, property, granary, or storehouse that he is unwilling to give up. He only generates the thought of rarity towards the speaker of the Dharma, and does not generate the thought of rarity towards others at all. For the sake of the Dharma, there is nothing external that he is unwilling to give up. He does not give up internal things either.
