Having spoken thus, they each wield countless billions of weapons, inflicting harm upon the body of the Bodhisattva. Just as the suffering endured in a single day, so it continues without interruption for countless eons, without knowing weariness, without knowing exhaustion, constantly without ceasing, without abandoning, without stopping, without restraining, without exhaling, without looking back. Even so, O sons of the Conqueror, facing such immense, inexhaustible, unbearable, hair-raising, agonizing, intensely scorching, life-threatening terror, the Bodhisattva still thinks thus: 'If I were to become agitated by enduring such a degree of suffering, that would be untamed, untrue, unwise, unpacified, unmeditated, untamed, unsubdued, undone, unsteadied. Relying on my body, I would also be unable to satisfy the minds of others.' Therefore, knowing the nature of body and mind, remembering the suffering of beginningless and endless birth and cyclic existence, he thinks, 'These dharmas are thus in accordance with their nature.' Then, he outwardly generates joy, generates extreme joy, feels delight, feels extreme delight, feels contentment, feels pride, feels pleasure, feels extreme pleasure, tames his mind, completely understands. Thus, I too shall abide in the Dharma of the Buddha, and I shall also declare this meaning to all sentient beings. Why is that? Because this body is empty, devoid of self and of what belongs to self, empty of inherent nature. In emptiness, there is neither happiness nor suffering, nor any dualistic expression. Whatever is empty has nothing in it. All dharmas are non-existent. Therefore, I too must truly understand this, and in order to cause all sentient beings to abandon their clinging to substantiality, it is necessary to declare all dharmas. Thus, I shall generate towards them a mind of loving-kindness, a mind of benefit, a mind of happiness, a mind of compassion, a mind of affection, a mind that delights in helping others, a mind that never abandons, a mind of enlightenment, a mind of Bodhi, a mind that cannot be taken away.'

To strive for the sake of fully understanding my own nature and essence. To strive for the sake of fully understanding the equality of all the Buddha's teachings. To strive for the sake of fully understanding the equality of being skilled in the three times. To strive for the sake of fully understanding the equality of the appearance of knowing all the Buddha's teachings. To strive for the sake of fully understanding the wisdom by which all the Buddha's teachings will be realized. To strive for the sake of fully understanding the manifestation of enlightenment of all the Buddha's teachings in one way. To strive for the sake of fully understanding the manifestation of enlightenment of all the Buddha's teachings without end or center. To strive for the sake of fully understanding being skilled in the great wisdom of realizing all the Buddha's teachings. To strive for the sake of fully understanding the cause of teaching and proving the detailed classification of all the Buddha's teachings, and the detailed teaching. O sons of the Victorious Ones! A Bodhisattva Mahasattva is one who possesses such diligence. If, for the sake of sentient beings in countless world realms, and for the sake of each sentient being, he is willing and pleased to remain in suffering in the great hell of uninterrupted suffering for countless eons, and those sentient beings are completely liberated from sorrow in the meantime, and at that time countless Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, appear, and all those who see those Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, are endowed with all the means of happiness, yet that Bodhisattva will not manifest perfect and complete enlightenment. That Bodhisattva, for the sake of sentient beings belonging to countless world realms, and for the benefit of each sentient being, is willing to remain in the great hell for countless eons, until that many sentient beings are completely liberated from sorrow. To this, some would say: to measure countless great oceans with the tip of a hair, to grind countless world realms into dust.
