Because he completely understands this way of generating the mind, just as it is said in the scriptures, the various minds of the ten directions are transmitted one after another, and it may be possible to exhaust them. However, the root of virtue of the first generation of the mind of a Bodhisattva towards unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment cannot be exhausted. Why is that? Hey, son of the Victorious One, it is not for the sake of completely understanding the various minds of so many sentient beings that Bodhisattvas generate the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Rather, it is like this, in order to completely understand the various minds of sentient beings, which are boundless and endless, with the world realm pervaded by the Dharma realm, touched by the sentient being realm, and pervaded by the space realm, in order to attain complete enlightenment, Bodhisattvas generate the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Just as it is said in the scriptures, in order to manifest complete enlightenment with the wisdom of fully understanding and integrating all the networks of mind generation into equality, Bodhisattvas generate the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. In order to fully understand the transmission of various karmas of the land from one to another, countless eons have been exhausted. Even if one could understand these through a single aspiration, the root of virtue of initially generating the unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment mind of a Bodhisattva, who might even be able to ultimately perfect the transmission of various karmas from one to another in the ten directions, is inexhaustible. Why is that? Sons of the Victorious Ones, Bodhisattvas do not generate the unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment mind for the sake of fully understanding the various karmas of just those sentient beings. Rather, Bodhisattvas generate the unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment mind in order to manifestly awaken by fully understanding the various karmas of all sentient beings belonging to all realms of the world and the three times without exception. For example, Bodhisattvas generate the unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment mind in order to thoroughly engage in various karmas that have no beginning or end, and to manifestly awaken as experts in all the distinctions of karma. For example, Bodhisattvas generate the unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment mind in order to correctly enter into one sentient being who is countless and of various forms, to thoroughly obtain the appearance of expressing the manner of karma, for all karmas to be transmitted from one to another without exception, and to manifestly awaken to the ocean of beings endowed with karma.
