第二十二品，菩萨初发心之福德聚之譬喻圆满积聚偈颂品。 第二十二品，菩萨初发心之福德聚之譬喻圆满积聚偈颂品。 其后，天帝释提桓因对菩萨法慧如是说：“奇哉，佛子，具有多少福德聚，方能成为初发心之菩萨？”如是说已，菩萨法慧对天帝释提桓因如是说：“奇哉，佛子，此地实难置信，难以知晓，难以衡量，难以信奉，极难领悟，难以成办，难以如实修行，难以言说，难以生起，难以超越，难以通达。然无论如何，当以佛之威力宣说之。奇哉，佛子，对此作何思量？若东方之无量世界之众生，彼等之中，有人以劫之安乐资具悉皆供养，并令其受持五学处，如是南方，西方，北方，如是东北方隅，东南方隅，西南方隅，如是西北方隅，如是下方，如是上方之无量世界之众生，亦以劫之安乐资具悉皆供养，并令其受持五学处，佛子，对此作何思量？以此之故，福德增多耶？”如是说已，天帝释提桓因对菩萨法慧如是说：“奇哉，佛子，此福德唯有诸佛世尊方能知晓，其他众生不能知晓。”如是说，奇哉，佛子，菩萨初发心之福德聚者。

Having said this, the Bodhisattva Dharma Wisdom said to the Lord of the Gods, Indra: "O son of the Victorious One, this place is very difficult to believe, difficult to know, difficult to examine, difficult to have faith in, very difficult to realize, difficult to accomplish, difficult to practice correctly, difficult to express, difficult to generate, difficult to overcome, difficult to comprehend. However, in any way, it shall be explained by the power of the Buddha. O son of the Victorious One, what do you think of this? If some of the sentient beings belonging to the countless realms of the eastern direction were to serve with all the means of happiness for an eon, and also cause them to uphold the five precepts, and similarly the southern direction, the western direction, the northern direction, and similarly the northeastern direction, the southeastern direction, the southwestern direction, and similarly the northwestern direction, and similarly the lower direction, and similarly the sentient beings belonging to the countless realms of the upper direction, were also to serve with all the means of happiness for an eon, and also cause them to uphold the five precepts, O son of the Victorious One, what do you think of this? Does merit increase greatly because of this?" Having said this, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, said to the Bodhisattva Dharma Wisdom: "O son of the Victorious One, this merit cannot be known by others except for the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. Having said, O son of the Victorious One, the heap of merit of the Bodhisattva's first generation of mind is.

那些（功德）以前的福德，连百分之一也接近不了，连千分之一也接近不了，连百千分之一，亿分之一，百亿分之一，千亿分之一，百千亿分之一，万万亿分之一，万万亿千分之一，万万亿百千分之一也接近不了。数量和部分以及计算，譬喻和原因也接近不了啊！ 唉，佛子，先前的比喻就放到一边吧！ 唉，佛子，十方世界无量无数的众生，在百劫中以一切安乐的资具承事供养，并且完全地修习十善业道，同样地，在千劫中以一切安乐的资具承事供养，并且善于安住于四禅定；在百千劫中以一切安乐的资具承事供养，并且善于安住于四梵住； 在亿劫中以一切安乐的资具承事供养，并且善于安住于四无色定；在亿劫中以一切安乐的资具承事供养，并且善于安住于入流果；在千亿劫中以一切安乐的资具承事供养，并且善于安住于一来果；在百千亿劫中以一切安乐的资具承事供养，并且善于安住于不来果；在万万亿劫中以一切安乐的资具承事供养，并且善于安住于阿罗汉果；在万万亿百千劫中以一切安乐的资具承事供养，并且善于安住于独觉菩提， 唉，佛子，您怎么想？以此原因，福德会增长吗？ 天王帝释说：唉，佛子，这只有世尊佛才能知晓。 菩萨法慧说：唉，佛子，菩萨最初发心的福德蕴，对于那个福德

The merit of those previous (virtues) does not even come close to one percent, nor does it come close to one thousandth. It does not even come close to one hundred thousandth, one hundred millionth, one hundred millionth, one thousand millionth, one hundred thousand millionth, one trillionth, one trillionth, one trillionth, one hundred thousand trillionth. It does not even come close to number, part, calculation, metaphor, and cause! O son of the Conqueror, let the previous example be put aside! O son of the Conqueror, as many sentient beings as belong to the countless realms of the ten directions, having served and venerated with all the means of happiness for hundreds of kalpas, and having completely practiced the paths of the ten virtuous actions, similarly, having served and venerated with all the means of happiness for thousands of kalpas, and being skilled in abiding in the four dhyanas; having served and venerated with all the means of happiness for hundreds of thousands of kalpas, and being skilled in abiding in the four Brahmaviharas; having served and venerated with all the means of happiness for hundreds of millions of kalpas, and being skilled in abiding in the four formless absorptions; having served and venerated with all the means of happiness for hundreds of millions of kalpas, and being skilled in abiding in the fruit of stream-entry; having served and venerated with all the means of happiness for thousands of millions of kalpas, and being skilled in abiding in the fruit of once-returner; having served and venerated with all the means of happiness for hundreds of thousands of millions of kalpas, and being skilled in abiding in the fruit of non-returner; having served and venerated with all the means of happiness for trillions of kalpas, and being skilled in abiding in the Arhat fruit; having served and venerated with all the means of happiness for hundreds of thousands of millions of trillions of kalpas, and being skilled in abiding in the Pratyekabuddha's enlightenment, O son of the Conqueror, what do you think?
