It looks as rich as being at home. Observing the shortcomings of the leaf house, eight shortcomings are seen. There are eight shortcomings in using a leaf house: needing many trees and many possessions, collecting them to build a house and searching is the first shortcoming. The grass and soil are used up, and are exhausted again and again, so the need for constant repair is the second shortcoming. The place called sleeping is large, and it is necessary to ask for it from time to time, so the mind cannot dwell in one place and must walk is the third shortcoming. Cold, warmth, softness, and making the body comfortable are the fourth shortcoming. Being able to do evil after entering the house, and being able to prevent shame is the fifth shortcoming. Thinking it is one's own and guarding it is the sixth shortcoming. Having a family is the second, which is the seventh shortcoming. Many creatures such as lice, ghost lice, dog lice, etc. live there is the eighth shortcoming. Seeing these eight shortcomings, the great mind abandoned the leaf house. Therefore it is said: Having eight shortcomings, abandoning the leaf house, living under a tree, has ten merits. Abandoning the hiding places, having ten merits, living under a tree. It is said that there are ten merits there: not needing to accumulate is the first merit. Just sleeping can be obtained, without needing to guard is the second merit. There is no need to clean there to enjoy, to live comfortably, and there is no need to ask is the third merit. When feeling ashamed, there is no place to hide, there is no evil done there, and there is no hiding is the fourth merit. Like a place without cover, the body cannot always stay is the fifth merit. Not wanting to fully possess is the sixth merit. Abandoning the desire for a home is the seventh merit. Not having the attachment of needing many things, not having complete protection, and not having desire when walking is the eighth merit. Not having joy when dwelling is the ninth merit. The abode under the tree, going and going is easy to find, and there is no dependence is the tenth merit. Seeing these ten merits, it is said to live by the tree. Like this, those are all thought to be done. Great Mind Sangye Nyi

When he went for alms, he immediately reached the village, and the people were very happy and gave food. When the time for the awning came, he arrived at the residence, arrived and sat down to think. My reason for becoming a monk is not to obtain food. This food called delicious increases the obesity of arrogance and the obesity of desire for men, and relying on the basis of food, suffering is endless. I should abandon the grain food that is planted and created again, and rely on the best fruit food. He took it from then on. Having done so, he made efforts to make the body suffer, and within seven days, he generated the eight samadhis and the five superknowledges, therefore he said: The grains that are planted and created, completely abandoned, possessing many virtues, enter into fruits and so on. There, the ascetic dwells, in the places of dwelling and walking, within seven days, he obtained the power of superknowledge. Having thus obtained superknowledge, the wise and good ascetic abides in the bliss of samadhi. At that time, the teacher named Dipamkara appeared in the world. When he entered the womb, was born, became enlightened, and turned the wheel of Dharma, all ten thousand worlds shook, shook violently, made a sound, and made a great sound. The thirty-two previous signs, and the wise and good ascetic abiding in the bliss of samadhi, did not hear those sounds, nor did he see those previous signs. Therefore he said: Relying on one seat, I obtained such accomplishment. The Victorious One named Dipamkara, the guide of the world, appeared. Having entered the womb and been born, having become enlightened and taught the Dharma, he did not see the four signs, the bliss of meditation did not hear. At that time, Dipamkara, possessing the ten powers, together with a retinue of four hundred thousand who had exhausted the defilements, in order to benefit sentient beings in order, walked and arrived at the city called Joyful, and entered the great temple called Delightful.
