Speaking and showing all the royal families, those who have not seen make their minds pure before the teacher. Therefore, the Blessed One said to the abider: Monks, among my hearers, whoever has faith in lineage, this is Carka. Because they valued this person, the Sakyas also gathered together and said: Before the Blessed One arrives, let us go and see the leader of our relatives. They investigated the place where the Blessed One was staying and prepared the delightful Nyagrodha garden of the Sakyas. There, everyone gathered together, each holding incense and flowers in their hands, welcoming and adorning themselves with all kinds of ornaments, first sending the young men and women of the city, then the young men and women of the king, each offering incense, flowers, and powders, etc. The Blessed One accepted and went to the Nyagrodha garden. There, the Blessed One, with a retinue of twenty thousand monks who had exhausted defilements, sat on the exquisitely arranged seat. The Sakyas were arrogant and rough in heart, thinking: This is Siddhartha (meaning accomplished), who grew up with us in childhood. We are elder brothers, this is the son of a sister, this is a nephew. Thinking thus, they called him a child and a prince of the king, thinking: With your hand, I will sit behind you. They remained like that. The Blessed One observed their thoughts and thought: The relatives do not want to prostrate to me, but now they must be made to prostrate, and the basis of superknowledge, wisdom, meditation, and equipoise must be generated. Then, he rose and ascended into the sky. Just as the dust of his feet fell on their heads, under the mango tree guarding the mango tree, he displayed miracles that matched their respective miracles. The king said: I have seen very wonderful things. Blessed One, on the day you were born, the ascetic Krishna prostrated and approached, when you walked, the common of the Brahmins...

He was close to him. Having seen that, I also prostrated to you. This is my first prostration. On the auspicious day of sowing seeds, when you were sitting on the glorious couch in the shade of the Jambudvipa tree, I saw that the shade of the Jambudvipa tree had not left you, and I prostrated at your feet. This is my second prostration. Now I see miracles that I have never seen before, so I prostrate at your feet. This is my third prostration. Then the king prostrated to the Blessed One, and there was not a single member of the Shakya clan who could not prostrate. Everyone prostrated. Then the relatives prostrated to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One descended from the sky and sat on the supreme seat that had been prepared. After the Blessed One sat down, he gathered with his relatives, and everyone was of one mind. Then, from the great cloud, rain fell like water not sticking to lotus petals. The water was copper-colored and fell with a sound that echoed on the earth. Those who wanted to bathe bathed, and those who did not want to bathe did not bathe. Not a single drop fell. Having seen that, everyone felt amazed and wonderful. They said, "Emaho, how wonderful! Emaho, how amazing!" The Teacher said, "This is only when I meet my relatives that rain falls like water not sticking to lotus petals, and I have also caused it to fall in the past." The origin of this event is told in the Gesar Jataka of all sounds. After hearing the Dharma teaching, everyone stood up, prostrated, and left. No one said, "The king, the prince, and the ministers will come to my place tomorrow to beg for alms." The next day, the Teacher again led a sangha of twenty thousand monks to the site of Kapilavastu to beg for alms. There was no one to invite as a guest, and no one to carry a bowl. The Blessed One stood at the gate and carefully observed how the Buddhas of the past had come to the city of their lineage to beg for alms, and according to the custom, he went to the houses of the great men, or in order.

They also practice alms-seeking in this way. Then, because they had not seen any Buddha proceed in such a manner, they thought, "I, too, am of this kind. Like the conduct of the Buddhas of the past, I should also follow suit. My Shravaka disciples will also learn like me and perfectly engage in alms-seeking. Starting from the dwelling house, they will proceed in order for alms. People will say, 'The noble young Dondup is going for alms.' In two-story or three-story mansions, etc., people would open the small windows on the top floor to watch, and even Rahula's mother, due to the power of the great king, would come to this city riding in golden palanquins, etc. She thought, 'Today he has shaved his hair and beard, put on robes, and is carrying a bowl in his hand, going for alms. Is it dignified or not?' She also opened the small window on the top floor to watch. He is free from various desires, truly blazing, and the light of his body illuminates the entire city above. A fathom-long light shines all around, extremely bright, possessing eighty minor marks of excellence, adorned with the thirty-two major marks of a great person, the splendor of the Buddha appearing incomparably clear, which everyone saw. From the crown of his head to the soles of his feet, it was like this. His hair curls to the right, smooth, black, and lustrous. His forehead is spotless, like the center of the sun. His nose, befitting his body, is high. The lion among men radiates light.' Like this, they praised the lion among men with verses. Someone said to the king, 'Your son is practicing alms-seeking.' The king's heart was enveloped in sorrow, and he hurried out, came before the Blessed One, and said, 'Reverend, we are ashamed, why do you beg for alms? Do you think that I do not know how to provide food for these monks? This is the conduct of a great royal family! Reverend, we are a lineage called the Shakya clan.' Among them, not a single royal family has the name of begging for alms. The name of a great royal family
