Now begins the narration. The Bodhisattva rose from his seat and circumambulated the tree. He took a golden bowl and went to the bank of the Nairanjana River. Countless Bodhisattvas, on the day they attained perfect enlightenment, at the bathing place, there was a place well-established called "Munai". There, the Bodhisattva placed the golden bowl, descended, and bathed. Countless Buddhas wore robes and offerings, faced eastward, and sat down. They made fifty balls, each the size of a date pit from the Tala tree, mixed with waterless and thick milk-rice, and consumed them all. Thus, after he became a Buddha, he stayed under the Bodhi tree for forty-nine days, and for these forty-nine days, this was his food. During that time, there was no other food, no bathing, no rinsing of the mouth, and no physical activity. He spent day and night only with the bliss of meditation, the bliss of the path, and the bliss of the fruit. Afterwards, he ate the milk-rice, took the golden bowl in his hand, and said, "If I can become a Buddha today, may this golden bowl go upstream! If not, may it go downstream!" Having said this, he threw the golden bowl into the water. The golden bowl, following the waves of the water, went to the center of the river, and in the central position, like a galloping horse, it rose to a height of about eighty cubits. Then, the golden bowl spun once and sank, reaching the abode of the Naga king, Black Dragon. After that, the great golden bowls in which the past three Buddhas had eaten made a "sisi" sound, gathered together, and sank beneath them all. The Naga king, Black Dragon, hearing the sound, said, "Yesterday a Buddha attained enlightenment, and today another Buddha has attained enlightenment, and is praised by many." The Bodhisattva spent the day in the Sal tree grove by the river, and at night, when the lotus flowers opened, the gods decorated the place with flowers, its expanse being able to hear the sound of eight elephants.

On the path to achieving the goal, roaring like a lion, he proceeded towards the Bodhi tree. Nagas, Yakshas, Garudas, and other deities offered heavenly incense, flowers, and celestial songs. The ten thousand worlds were filled with wonderful fragrances and became garlands of flowers, and all beings exclaimed, "Excellent!" At that time, a grass-cutter named Tashi (Auspicious) took grass and came before the path, recognizing the appearance of the great being, and offered eight handfuls of grass. The Bodhisattva took the grass and approached the heart of the Bodhi tree, sitting down facing north in the southern direction. Immediately, the southern foundation sank, as if reaching the Avici hell below. The southern foundation rose up, as if reaching the peak of existence. The Bodhisattva thought, "This is not the place to attain perfect enlightenment," and after circumambulating, he went to the west, sitting down facing east. Then, the western foundation sank below, as if reaching the Avici hell. The eastern foundation rose up, as if reaching the peak of existence. The place where the Bodhisattva sat pressed down to the end of the earth, sinking into the great earth like great chariot wheels resting separately. The Bodhisattva thought, "This is not the place to attain Bodhi," and after circumambulating, he went to the north, sitting down facing south. Then, the northern foundation sank into the earth, as if reaching the Avici hell. The northern foundation rose up, as if reaching the peak of existence. The Bodhisattva thought, "This is not the place to attain Bodhi," and after circumambulating, he went to the east, sitting down facing west. Again, in the east, the place where all Buddhas sit in vajra posture does not move or tilt. The great-minded one, this
