Lo! On the right side, sixty thousand great lamps were lit. On the left side, sixty thousand great lamps were lit. The other gods also lit countless thousands of lamps on the surrounding mountains. The other gods, nagas, suparnas, and so on, offered heavenly incense, garlands of flowers, powders, and incense, and proceeded. Just as the flowers of the Pārijāta tree and the flowers of the Mandāra tree were as thick as clouds, constantly falling from the sky, a rain of flowers fell without ceasing. The songs of the gods resounded. The sounds of sixty-eight thousand musical instruments resounded all around. It was like the roar of a dragon in the middle of the ocean. It was like the sound of the ocean resounding near Mount Gnya' shing 'dzin (持双山). This is the Bodhisattva, endowed with glory and excellent fortune, who on the same night of his departure, abandoned the three great kingdoms and proceeded to the end of thirty yojanas, to the bank of the river called "Yid-ldan" (意乐). Why can't this horse go to the other side of the river? It is not that it cannot, it can go around in one environment in one morning, and immediately return in the same morning, and can eat the food offered in front of it. At that time, the gods, nagas, suparnas, and so on, again resided in the sky, and descended incense and garlands of flowers, and so on. The incense and garlands of flowers piled up like mountains, until the horse's thighs were submerged and it could not come out. The incense and garlands of flowers were like hair, difficult to remove, and became very heavy. Therefore, they traveled thirty-two yojanas. Then, the Bodhisattva sat down by the river and asked the minister Ashana, "What is the name of this river?" He replied, "It is called Lha Yid-ldan (天意乐)." After I renounce, I will also be called Yid-ldan (意乐). He kicked the horse with his foot and urged it on. The horse jumped and landed on the other side of the river, which was as wide as the sound of eight bulls bellowing. The Bodhisattva dismounted from the horse and sat on a pile of sand like silver. Calling Ashana, "You take my..."

Go away with ornaments and praises! I will renounce. Please, gods, also allow me to renounce. The Bodhisattva said, "You cannot renounce, go away!" He asked three times but was not allowed. Adornment and Praise held it in his hand and thought, "My hair is not suitable for a monk." Thinking, "There is no other Bodhisattva who can shave my hair," then he thought of shaving it with his own sword. Holding the sword in his right hand and holding the jewel with the headdress in his left hand, he cut it off. The hair was two fingers long, curled from the right side, and remained on the head. Those hairs remained the same length for as long as he lived. The beard also disappeared. He no longer needed to shave his hair and beard. The Bodhisattva held the jewel with the headdress and thought, "If I become a Buddha, may it stay in the sky. If not, may it fall to the ground." Then he threw it into the sky. That which bound the crown jewel flew to a height of one yojana and stayed in the sky. King Shakra of the gods, seeing with his divine eye, put it in a jewel box the size of one yojana, and in the palace of the Thirty-Three, he built a stupa in which the crown jewel was placed. The topknot, imbued with the supreme fragrance, was cut off. The supreme person threw it into the sky. The thousand-eyed one held the hair on his head with his eyes and took it to the heavenly realm in a golden box. Again, the Bodhisattva thought, "The cloth of the Kashi kingdom is not suitable for my monk's status." He thought. Then, in the time of Buddha Kashyapa, his former friend became the potter Great Brahma. Thinking, "I have not met a friend in the time of one Buddha," he thought, "That must be my friend, who has renounced with great renunciation. Let's take these monk's utensils and go!" he thought. Three Dharma robes and a begging bowl, a razor, a needle, a belt, and a water strainer, a total of eight items. Suitable and necessary for monks. He begged for and offered these eight items needed by monks. The Bodhisattva put on the banner worthy of offering, and then...
