Blazing like a tree, like a Sāla flower tree in full bloom. His life span was a hundred thousand years. That great ascetic's life span was such that he remained and delivered many beings. He made the light of Dharma, and truly delivered many beings. He was as bright as a pile of flames. Then, together with his Śrāvakas, he passed away. That too was the fame of his magical powers. A precious wheel was at his feet. He was completely separated from everything, and he abandoned all conditioned dharmas. Under Dīpaṃkara, the guide was named Kauṇḍinya. His splendor was immeasurable and boundless. For a long time, his mind was immeasurable. Again, after one countless kalpa under the Blessed One Dīpaṃkara, the guide of the teacher, Kauṇḍinya, appeared. He had three assemblies of Śrāvakas. The first assembly had one hundred thousand kotis. The second assembly had ten kotis. The third assembly had ninety kotis. At that time, the Bodhisattva named Nāmpar Gyalwa became a Chakravartin king. With a number of one hundred thousand kotis, he made great offerings to the Buddha and other great Sanghas of monks. The teacher prophesied that the Bodhisattva would become a Buddha and taught the Dharma. After hearing the teacher's Dharma, he renounced his kingdom and went forth. After learning the three pitakas, he developed the eight samāpattis and the five abhijñās. Without abandoning meditation, he was born in the Brahmā realm. Again, the city of that Buddha Kauṇḍinya was named Delightful. The king, Highly Delightful, was his father. The goddess of good lineage was his mother. Bhadra and Subhadra were the best of the Śrāvakas. The one named Aviruddha was the attendant. Vijayā and Upavijayā were the best of the Śrāvikās. The Bodhi tree was a Śāl tree. The height of his body was eighty-eight cubits. The measure of his life span was one hundred thousand years. After that, after one countless kalpa, four Buddhas appeared in that same kalpa: Maṅgala Bhadra, Citta Bhadra, Nauyā and Aniyama. The Blessed One Maṅgala.

The assembly of the Shravakas of Auspicious Virtue is divided into three parts. The first assembly consists of a hundred billion monks. The second has one billion. The third has ninety billion. The maternal uncle's youth named Kundgawo (ཀུན་དགའ་བོ།) , along with a retinue of ninety billion, is for the purpose of listening to the Dharma. The attendants of the Teacher departed. The past stories of that Teacher will be told in order. He and his retinue each attained perfect knowledge and the state of Arhat. The Teacher, looking at the past conduct of the sons of good family, saw the alms bowls and robes that arose from miraculous power. Extending his right hand, he said, "Monks, come here!". Immediately, all of them received the alms bowls and robes that arose from miraculous power, and became like elders of sixty years, with the ceremony being perfectly complete, they prostrated to the Teacher and became the retinue. Just as with other Buddhas, the entire body became light of eighty cubits in height. The light of the body of that Blessed One is not like that, but constantly shines and abides in the ten thousand world realms, and the remaining directions such as trees, earth, mountains, and oceans, and walls and so on, are like being adorned with gold. The length of life is ninety thousand years. On their bodies, the moon and sun and so on do not have the power of their own light. They do not know the difference between night and day. The daytime for sentient beings is like the sun rising, the light of the Buddha always goes forth. At night, worldly people know day and night by relying on the closing of flowers and the singing of birds in the morning, and so on. Why do other perfectly complete Buddhas not have this? It is not that they do not have it, but if they wish, they can also radiate light in ten thousand world realms or even more. Again, the Blessed One Auspicious Virtue, due to seeking the meaning of the past, is like the light of others being a fathom. The light of the body never...

At the time of preaching, ten thousand worlds were filled. At the time of his Bodhisattva conduct, he remained in the midst of liberating all beings. His sons and daughters, like Mount Bhaga, remained on the mountain. Then, a Yaksha with a single tusk, hearing that the great being was giving alms, went near in the form of a Brahmin and begged for sons and daughters from the great Bodhisattva. The great Bodhisattva thought, "I will give my sons and daughters to the Brahmin," and with joy and satisfaction, even the lands at the edge of the water trembled. Then the Yaksha squatted down at the end of the place where he was walking, leaning back and looking at the great Bodhisattva. After he gave his sons and daughters, he ate them like eating radishes. The Yaksha looked at the great being, his mouth open and burning like fire, and blood flowed continuously. But even seeing his mouth, he did not feel the slightest displeasure, and thought, "My giving is very good." Again, great joy arose in his body. They sought to have the rays of light shine in such a sequence in the future by the benefit of the merit of giving to this. For the reason of seeking it, after becoming a Buddha, the light of his body shone outward and pervaded them. Furthermore, this one has past deeds, that is, at the time of the Bodhisattva, seeing a stupa of the relics of a Buddha, he thought, "If I offer my life to the relics of this Buddha, it would be reasonable." As if wrapped in cotton cloth, he wrapped his whole body in other clothes, wore a jeweled crown, filled a golden vessel worth a hundred thousand with butter, erected a hundred thousand cotton wicks in it, lit the butter lamp, placed it on his head, and burned his whole body. He circumambulated the stupa of relics. In this way, until the dawn of the morning light, he worked diligently, and not even a pore of his hair felt warm, as if he were sitting in a lotus pond. This thing called Dharma, if you protect yourself, you will be protecting the Dharma.
