Completely giving away actions is the near pāramitā, completely giving away life is the ultimate pāramitā. The ten pāramitās, the near ten pāramitās, and the ultimate ten pāramitās. One should remember as if boiling oil on a fire, as if churning the great ocean with Mount Sumeru in the environment. After remembering those ten pāramitās, with the power of Dharma, like an elephant stepping on the thickness of this great earth of more than two million four hundred thousand, breaking bamboo. Like squeezing with a sugarcane press, truly making a great sound. Completely shaken, truly completely shaken, like a potter's wheel. Completely rotated like an oil machine. Therefore it is said: These worlds, which are the Dharma that obtains enlightenment? This is not above, nor in other places, it should be firmly placed in the heart. The nature is unwavering, remember this Dharma. The earth of the foundation of Dharma, shook millions of worlds. The land without mind, squeezed like a sugarcane press, rotated like an oil machine. Thus the land was completely shaken. Because this great earth shook, the people living in the city of joy could not stand up, like the trees of the earth shaking by the wind at the end of the kalpa, they fainted and fell down carelessly. Vessels such as bottles made sounds of breaking and colliding with each other, and turned into powder and fragments. All beings became frightened and approached the teacher. Blessed One, is this because the dragons are angry? Or is it because of the earth deities? Or Yakshas? Or the gods? Or other beings are angry? We do not know. Furthermore, all these great beings have been harmed. For what reason, is it caused by the sins of this world? Or is it caused by good deeds? Please tell us these reasons. The teacher heard their words and said: Do not be afraid.

Listen! Do not worry at all. These signs hold no fear for you. When I prophesied today that the wise Sumedha ascetic will become a Buddha named Gautama in the future. This here is remembering the perfections. He remembers and contemplates the perfections. It is said that the splendor of his Dharma causes all ten thousand world realms to shake and emit sound in an instant. Therefore it is said: As long as the retinue exists, Because of the Buddha's connection, He feels suffering there, Fainting and falling to the ground. Countless vases, Hundreds of large vessels, There they turned into fine powder, Because of colliding and grinding against each other. Fainting, fear, and dread, And falling with a mind of harm and torment. All beings gathered together, Went to the presence of Dipamkara. Why have the worldlings become like this? Is it virtue or is it sin? Harm has befallen the whole world. Please speak well, O you with eyes. Preaching the Dharma to all of them, The great sage Dipamkara, With a breath of fearlessness, Do not be afraid. Because of the shaking of this earth, Who I prophesied today, The worldlings will become Buddhas. He remembers the Dharma. Having served the past victors, Because of remembering his Dharmas, All the Buddha lands, Therefore these lands shook. Ten thousand including the gods. The great beings, having heard the words of the Tathagata, arose with joy and satisfaction, took flowers and incense, and ointments, and came out of the city of Joy, went to the presence of the Bodhisattva, offered flowers and so forth, and having prostrated and praised, they remained in the city of Joy itself. The Bodhisattva also remembered the ten perfections, and in order to strengthen his diligence, he remained even more steadfast, and arose from his seat. Therefore it is said: Having heard the words of the Buddha, Immediately a fearless mind arose. All came to my presence, Having prostrated again. Thinking of the qualities of the Buddha.
